wow i thought more people had commented, but one person just commented 3 times. I do NOT believe this song is about socialism or Stalin or russia in any way. this song is about blue collar workers that work daily to earn a paycheck to feed their families, but feel trapped. the simple plan is just to go along with this, to earn your paycheck, feed your family and be a good worker. But thinking of his family no longer makes him want to stay in this grind. The simpler plan is suicide. |

| i think in a way you're both kind of right. it's about losing faith in God, because of the religion. you see people faking their way through religion and are always so happy and in love with God and it makes you wonder if you're doing something wrong. "somedays I don't love You at all." That's about the most honest line I've ever heard a Christian sing. I think these lyrics leave out a very key aspect to the song though, and that is the final repeating line "Peace, be still." It lets us know that through all of the show of religious people, God still finds his way to those who seek him. Great song! | |

a couple of corrections (sorry): "I saw in your bedroom, the drawers had been emptied..." "Your angel's always looking down, he's perfect with a frown..." |

I think the lyric is actually "This line is metaphysical" not this life. And "constantly heaven reign of vogue"? what does that mean? I'm pretty sure it's "constantly hovering above." That said.. what a great song. that whole imagery of an imaginary line with the "good" vs. the "evil" is the whole theme of Control and is summed up nicely in this song. |
