Okay Boys & Girls, let's just end this whole thing . . . BUT FIRST:
This song's awesome and just captures Green Day & Billie Joe. It's about his panic attacks, and it was written before he really knew what they were. He just thought he was going crazy because it was wierd and nobody he knew really had the same issues he was w/ these attacks.
Now . . . Green Day IS Punk. They started out punk and pushed punk, BUT w/ knowledge about the way pop and rock goes, things that are "cool" suddenly become pop. Kurt Cobain & all of Seattle --> Grunge; BUT once MTV and people notice that, they copy it and f*ck w/ it, making it pop.
A lot of Green Day's newer things would fall under some kind of Rock, but its still w/ a lot of punk behind it. Punk ain't dead, people have just noticed it & f*cked w/ what it really is.

Being an Irish band like U2, this song holds a lot of the emotions that hold true in Ireland. It's a beautiful song that has a great supporting music video. The video has pictures and images of Ireland the scars that violence has left on the region.

Yes, this was written in the late 1800's and was really depressing. Broadcasting stations wouldn't play the song because it was so depressing. Many killed themselves. In the original version, there is no third verse, but after so many committed suicide w/ this song, the writer added it to make it less heavy . . . which is sad, becuz it was beautiful and meaningful w/o this ending. The writer ended up killin himself, and this song is so depressing, I absolutely love it. And yes, the first person to really sing this publicly was Billie Holiday, though tons have done covers of this song. |

Yea, I have the music video on mie comp. Dude, kewlest song like in a long time (best by REM). The music video was like less than 30 seconds of film, but they just zoomed in and focused on different parts/people/places, in both forward and reverse motion. AAAHHHH!!!!!! I'm the first one to comment on this song?! Wut the?! One of the best rock songs, by one of the best rock bands ever! This was done after one of their band members (I think a lead singer) had died. So after takin a small break, they came out w/ "Back In Black" with this as their cover song. Awesome song w/ great riffs and tune. It kicks anal. |
