E's lyrics ever substandard? E is an absolutely fantastic lyricist, best displayed throughout the entirety of the ultimate life-affirming album, Electro-Shock Blues, on which the sadness throughout has an undercurrent of incredibly sharp and dark wit and humour. |

Not quite so simple as that; a lasting impression yes, but not a positive one. "Worst mistake I've made": evidently aware that the relationship was a bad idea... but, it'd seem, a mistake he'd be more than happy to repeat. The lyrics are reasonably straightforward: "I would I were the same" - may wish he could just put the (mess of a) relationship out of mind, but cannot. |
