As one of the oldest Alk3 fans (in age), this song is about settling. Basically, the older you get, the more you realize how people settle for something less than they imagined they ever would. How many people stay in relationships or jobs or cities - because it's 'comfortable'. And that is all they have known? I see it everyday everywhere. People giving up on dreams and faking it (affectations) because it's easier to settle than to get what you really want. Think about it. some corrections: The title is actually "Sandy (Fourth of July, Asbury Park )" In curious, it is "This pier lights..." instead of "The Pier lights" First stanza: "Forcing a light into all them stony faces left stranded on this warm July." "And the boys from the casino dance like with shirts open like Latin lovers on the shore, chasing all them silly New York virgins, trying to score" second stanza "I got on it last night and my shirt got caught, man it kept me spinning, didn't think I'd ever get off." "Running, laughing, 'neath the boardwalk, ah with the bosses daughter" third stanza: "Sandy, that waitress I was seeing lost her desire for me. | This is probably my favorite JEW song! loved it since the moment i first heard it...and it just gets better and better the more i listen....Anyway, I am a chick and I can relate to it a lot in my own relationships....to me kisses are one of the most passionate things...and when you give that part of yourself to someone and they end up breaking your heart...then you're left wishing you never gave that away----'I'M TAKING MY KISSES BACK.
