Whenever I would listen to this song I always came to the same conclusion as MissKriss, that the song was about an abortion. I imagined the lyrics were a dialogue between a young boy and his young girlfriend who found out she's pregnant. As the weight of the situation forces them to grow up too fast, they try to decide what they should do. They considering aborting the child. "Cut that little child Inside of me and such a part of you " the girl is talking about getting rid of their child growing inside of her "I used to be a little boy So old in my shoes" the boy remembers how everything seemed so much simpler before. he probably thought he was already mature enough, ready for a sexual relationship at a young age. now he's seeing he wasn't prepared for the consequences. he realizes he was still a boy them, and now he's really being forced to grow up. "And what I choose is my choice What's a boy supposed to do? " They know they have to make this big decision themselves. It's their responsibility and no one else should make it for them. "The killer in me is the killer in you " They're seriously questioning the morality of an abortion. They feel like killers. "And leave you like they left me here To wither in denial The bitterness of one who's left alone" I'm not sure about the final verse. It could mean the boy is trying to leave the girl and run away from the problem. Withering in denial as he tries to pretend it never happened. I'm probably completely wrong. If the song was about something this specific we'd probably have heard about it in an interview or something. I just love the song and wanted to let everyone know the way I've been interpreting it. |
