i've liked this song a lot, ever since the first time i heard it. it's more meaningful now because i feel like it applies to my life a little bit. the drug thing is debatable but it's definitely about someone trying to keep their dark side away from the people they love. people can be addicted to other things. i think she smiles when the pain comes because the pain comes from some trial she's going through. maybe she smiles because if she hold out long enough through the pain she'll end up in a better place. at least that's what i live for. |

this whole CD (the distance to here) rocks. it's so full of something i can't put into words. live is like no other band out there. this song is really cool to, though it took me awhile to understand what it means. so in this song the sea is a place that represents bad stuff (whatcha doin' in this darkness baby? when you know that love will set you free will you stay in the sea forever?) or darkness as ed likes to refer to it. i'm guessing that you go to the sea (remember darkness) because love/light (that's not in the sea) can be really rough and difficult sometimes. So . . . you go to the sea to breathe. and i think the song is trying to say that while we all get tired and things can get bad (like GOD showing you up like a dime store hooker (he has his reasons, i promis)) it's really better out here in the light of love. long live live!!!!! peace out everyone |

i totaly agree with the thing about the indian chief. and the song might make alittle more sense if the lyrics were correct. . . it's "go on and save yourself" someone can fix it when they get the add lyrics thing up and running again. i hope they hurry. this band rocks. |

That's not real love. And is he questioning that love can't save us. That's so wrong if that's what it means. and if it means something else it totally should have been said another way. Wow i never thought of all that stuff. i suppose the song can mean different things to different people. This is a really weird view of it. i think it's kinda about cloning. the whole (you are my child, why can't you see that i am you) the whole thing about denial could be a cloned child dealing with his/her feelings about being cloned to replace someone else who's dead. or not. but that's the best part about good music, it can have a million different meanings and still rock. peace out. |
