Tetra-hydro-chloride is NOT the psychoactive compound in marijuana. Anyone who thinks so should be brutally buttfucked with extreme prejudice. THC=delta 9 tetra hydrocannibinol. In fact, upon searching for this 'chemical' the only thing that I stumbled upon was the lyrics for this song. So it's most likely the writer's stupidity. But then, he would've mentioned weed twice, which doesn't make much sense. |

I just found something out: DMT is present in the brain, more specifically, the pineal gland. Also known as the "Ajna Chakra" in Hindu belief and also known as your "Third Eye". |

I'd think it'd be something more along the lines of DMT, Salvia, or Peyote(like OceanOfChaos said). |

I HIGHLY doubt it has a depper meaning, due the lyrics and when it was written. This was written during the Opiate days, when Maynard was much more literal with his lyrics. You can pretty much figure out what most of the songs on Opiate mean without doing much thinking. |

I think it's indirectly about L. Ron Hubbard. I also think it's about Jesus, religious leaders, and political leaders. L. Ron would fall into the religious leader category(damn cultists). I think it's about people who promise everything to gain support of the people, yet they don't believe nor care about what they're preaching. Or maybe it's about how people tend not to care about someone when they're alive, then suddenly believe or claim to believe(to fit in)everything the person spouted out was true after they've died. "No way to recall, what it was that you had said to me, like I care at all. But it was so loud ,you sure could yell, you took a stand on every little thing, and so loud." I could be wrong(and most likely am) but that's my enterpretation of it. |

I think he says 'It feels like the first time, and we're standing above them', instead of 'It feels like the first time, and we're standing about them.' If this is so, then it somewhat could change the meaning of the song, in that the person feels as if they've hit bottom, and there's nothing anyone can do to harm them now, hence the "and no one can touch us" line. I may be completely wrong, but that's just what I think. |
