i think this song is about being an outcast. i think that the person telling the story is an outcast and finally foun someone like him, Virginia. it talks about how everyone Viginia is close to is so succesful ("Her daddy wrestles alligators, Mama works on carburetors
Her brother is a fine mediator for the President") and she doesn't know what she is herself so she looks to someone who knows what she feels and he thinks that she's beautiful for it. and she thinks the same of him. When it says "Pulls her hair back as she screams
I don't really wanna live this life" i think this means that when he's saying that she doesn't care a bout her hair and thats one of the things that he loves about her she also shows that she doesn't want o be who she is and she pulls her hair back as a sign of trying to erase who she is. i don't know am i totally weird or does anyone else see this fit?!? i definetly dont think shes a drag queen though the song is too pure for an idea like that!
