| Incubus – Oil and Water Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I can't say that I completely agree with this interpretation. However, I think this is a really cool and optimistic look at the song. Thanks for the comment. Very enlightening. | |
| Katy Perry – I Kissed a Girl Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
It's a big deal because there was a need to a write a song about it. It's the same reason why most people probably wouldn't care to hear a song about taking a nasty shit. Some stuff is just better left unsaid or advertised to the world. |

| Akon – Troublemaker Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
He's answering her question. I heard you're a heartbreaker. No, baby I'm a troublemaker. He has commitment issues and he's letting her know up front. He's also letting her know that she'd better be the independent, non-clingy type or she's going to get hurt, if they hook up. |

| Jack's Mannequin – Dark Blue Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
The essence of the song is finding happiness or love in dark times. "And it was me and you and the whole town underwater | There was nothing we could do | It was dark blue" It's not dark. It's dark blue. Even though they are metaphorically drowning, they still have each other. |

| 10 Years – Waking Up Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
One thing that really gets me about this song is the intro... "Distance away..." followed by the rewinding of an old cassette tape. It sets the tone of the song as a flashback or a recollection of events that occurred between the lovers. I think the meaning can be taken many different ways and is meant to be taken however the listener wishes. To me, the singer is unable to reach the person in the physical world and is trying to reach them on a spiritual level. The person has faith that they will be reunited, yet there is fear of the distance in the interim. I didn't really take it to mean, a fear of love. The last line, I interrupted as: I'm waking up enduring my biggest fear, love. (aka dear, honey, sweetheart) |

| Gnarls Barkley – Going On Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think it's really about transcending yourself and growing more than anything. Whether it be in this life or the next. Everyone has their own path. He's following his. And other people have to walk their own. Hence, the "don't follow me." Walk your own path in other words. I wouldn't really say it's about suicide or drugs. It's more about being enlightened, rather than killing yourself or poisoning your mind. |

| Panic! at the Disco – I Write Sins Not Tragedies Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
There are so many comments to this song that I don't know if anyone has come up with this meaning yet... I agree with the first few comments that it's straight forward. I think the song is about the singer who is a groom in character, who overhears two people talking about his bride to be. I think that there's more to it then that though. I think it's about turning a negative into a positive. In essence, people are talking behind someone's back and he obviously doesn't like what he hears about the person he loves. The positive is what they're saying. So she's a whore... The positive is that he's gonna get some. In other words, they're gonna have a healthy sex life. i.e. Well I'll look at it this way I mean, technically, our marriage is saved Well this calls for a toast So pour the champagne Anyways, that's my take. |

| Eminem – Superman Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
No one's touched on the meaning yet... And this is the irony, he's refering to the bitches in the song as shallow people in the world. Read the song again, and you'll see it... I got a laugh out of the comments on here though, all the women saying they love him, et cetera. He's talking about you kind of people in the song... Regardless, though, I like the beat and the fact that Eminem is not reserved in his songs. Anyone's who's been with a shallow or slutty girl may not feel this passionate but they can definately relate to an extent. |

| The Black Eyed Peas – Don't Phunk With My Heart Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I agree with rocketqueenz. The girl has been screwed over a lot and she thinks this guy might be like the rest who hurt her. Yet, he's trying to prove himself. I like this song because it's a message to people who are afraid to get into relationships (or insecure in their relationships), to give the person a break or a chance for that matter. |

| The Postal Service – Sleeping In Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
IRONY: A message board about a song which looks at the world in an optimistic way despite many wrongdoings... yet people who love the band spitefully bash others... In other words, the message of an optimistic world from the singer that you love went right over your head, when you started cutting other people down. Just thought that was interesting that people can't respect other people's opinions even though they differ from their own. On a last note, good song. |

| Deftones – Change (In the House of Flies) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I think this song was written so that people take many meanings from it since it's mostly a metaphor. From what I get out of it, it seems as though the person singing is responsible for the "change." One concept that I thought was interesting, was the virginity losing that Lisachic brought up. It seems like it could be taken that the singer took the virginity of an innocent girl, and turned her into a whore. Consequently, he feels guilty for his bad deeds. "I watched you change, it's like you never had wings." If compared to an angel or good person, the girl has changed so much they're no longer pure. That's just one thought. Ultimately though, when I hear this song I think of a person responsible for someone elses demise. Inevitably, this person feels guilty for bringing a person they cared about down with them. |

| A Perfect Circle – Passive Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Given the context of the album, it's almost like Maynard is making a statement toward people who sit around and bitch about the government and its politics. I definately agree that there are layers to this song as with any of Maynard's songs. It's your right and your ability To become my perfect enemy -- People have a right to sit around bitching about things without doing anything. Someday I'll walk away and say You dissapoint me Maybe you're better off this way -- Someday people like Maynard will not be around to try and advocate a cause. Especially if the cause has no followers, which is a disappointment. Even though the song was revamped, it looks like it's designed to advocate a revolution or a change in American mindset. |

| Unwritten Law – Save Me (Wake Up Call) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
The song is about a drug addiction. I really don't see how many people can relate. With the "You can't save me." He's basically saying that no one can save him but himself since he's an addict. The "waiting for a wake up call" is where he's talking about "being stuck" as someone already said. The regrets he's having in the song is about what he's done to people close to him, which is a common thing with addicts. The best lyric that proves my point is when he says Went to the doctor And I asked her To make this stop (whoa) Got medication A new addiction Fuckin' thanks a lot Basically, he's talking about how his addiction goes from drugs to pills from the doctor. Like, I said unless you've known an addict or you are an addict, you really can't relate to the song from beginning to end. |

| A Perfect Circle – Vanishing Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I think this song is about an enlighting experience that is fleeting... hence, it's vanishes. Essentially, all of life is tangible and makes sense for a split second then it is sand through your hands. | |
| Smile Empty Soul – Silhouettes Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This song hits home. There aren't too many geniune songs like this about the impact parents have in childrens' lives. As for some of the comments, in part I agree. Especially with some of the emo kids out there just feeling sorry for themselves. No disrespect to anyone. This song in itself is a commitment to surpass the shortcomings of one's parents, yet many people who like this song will still follow in their parent's footsteps. | |
| Cold – Remedy Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I think it's more of his take on truth rather then adhering to the concept of "ignorance is bliss" | |
| The Cure – Lovesong Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| One of my all time favorite songs. I don't there are many artists out there that come close to delivering so much emotion in their songs. The bittersweetness of love at its best is in this song. | |
| The Used – Blue And Yellow Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I think the "true" meaning to this song goes beyond words. I agree with most of the other interpretations, but when looking at the bigger picture, I think this song is about LIVING and reveling in the existence of being human | |
| Chevelle – Vitamin R (Leading Us Along) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I agree with Tara. It's about society's use of perscription drugs to deal with problems rather then using compassion and dealing with the problems with will power. | |
| Lostprophets – Last Train Home Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Not to stir up a conversation that is months old, but I just wanted to add my opinion. To be quite honest, I think that people who discriminate against genres of music are narrowminded. No music is really "original" because artists build upon other artists and musician's concepts, theories, and sounds to create something they call their own. So in that respect, history and music are related. It almost seems like music bashing is a fad. Kinda of like, I'm cool if I listen to old school bands, and you suck if you listen to mainstream stuff. It's stupid. Like what you like and let others like what they like... even if it is Brittany or Christina. At one point, a lot of artistis that you'd consider "old" i.e. The Cure, Elvis Presley, Madonna, et cetera were looked down upon for being "original" during their prime eras. |

| Evanescence – October Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| P.S. Good song. I like the guitar opening and the ending with the drums. | |
| Evanescence – October Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I don't understand why people automatically assume songs are in reference to Christ. I think the song is what you make it of it yourself. It seems that both meanings are applicable. | |
| Trapt – Echo Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I agree with JLC in part. I think it's about getting together with someone and moving on with your life after dwelling over a past relationship. It makes sense to me at least. The echo is a past fuck up with another person (possibly the same person he's with) that he's trying to get through... so he can "run away" with the person he's with now. | |
| RA – Sky Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This has to be the best song on the album, by far. A very powerful song about a person's enlightenment in comparison to others around him or her that although the world seems shitty... there is hope in the literal and metaphorical sky. The part where he states: "long may you run" is so true in how everyone has to deal with their problems, yet there is hope and light at the end of the tunnel. | |
| Blink-182 – I Miss You Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
I think the song is primarily about betrayal in some aspect(s). I know this is a lame example but it would be like a loved one cheating on you. You breaking up with them, but still missing them afterwards. I'm not concerned with the details but I think that that concept is evident in the song. Hence, "Don't waste your time on me, you're already the voice inside my head. (I miss you, I miss you)." I guess in that instance in some manner I can relate. I broke up with an ex-girlfriend after going out for a year and then learned that it was a mistake. I live with the regret still daily but wish it would go away. I think the saying still applies if I were talking to the emotion of regret... "Don't waste your time on me, you're already the voice inside my head. (I miss you, I miss you)." |

| Rage Against the Machine – Sleep Now In The Fire Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| I'm going with a metaphor for the capitalistic and imperialistic nature of America. I guess that pretty much encompasses greed. And as far as the last verse goes, I think Zach's pretty much saying that we're going to have to accept our destructive ways since it's going to inevitable ruin us. (For its the end of history. Its caged and frozen still. There is no other pill to take. So swallow the one that made you ill.) | |

| KoЯn – Here To Stay Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
If that is the case, that's just gross, prophet. Anyways, I was wondering if the footage used for the space shuttle part of the video was the Challenger incident and if any controversy has come about from it. Anyways, just figured I'd drop that by for topic of discussion. Personally, I think JD wrote it for the purpose of depression as a result of problem(s) in life that drive you to being suicidal or turning pain to rage to get by for that moment, however I suppose that you could use it for whatever purpose you wanted. e.g. a relationship or 9-11. KoRn rocks and I hope they're "Here To Stay." Peace, Rev |

| Mesh StL – Believe Me Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I can't believe no one's commented on Mesh. They're a pretty decent band from most of the songs I've heard. And I'm glad that their music has reached radioplay in Florida. Kickass St. Louis peeps! Keep em coming! Peace Out, Rev | |
| Jimmy Eat World – Cautioners Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I've never really enjoyed this song until now. And I know that come tomorrow (Monday), she'll turn her back on me. No matter what, I love you Sara. From here to eternity, I'll always be with you even if it's just through thoughts. Peace and God bless, Rev | |
| The Calling – Wherever You Will Go Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Personally, I think of it as a vow from one individual in a relationship. That no matter how far the couple drift apart, the other individual will follow and be there for that person till their dying day out of love. | |
| Electrasy – Cosmic Castaway Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| For those of you that don't know, this song is off the Titan A.E. soundtrack. I know that it sort of goes with the theme of the movie but I was wondering if someone could give me their opinion of the meaning of the song. Thanks a bunch. Later, Rev | |
| Creed – One Last Breath Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Bee happy, as far as the bowl and the tears are in the video. I thought it might be a reference toward his past and the bad times, he had. If you think about it, the woman is crying tears of blood into a bowl of water which would resemble the sadness of his life. Afterward, he looked into the bowl which since it was water would reveal his reflection and himself in which the way he was. Upon seeing this, he drops the bowl realizing what he might have done, e.g. suicide and what he lost in either his faith in God or the love with his significant other. Then toward the end of the video you see him standing atop a pinniacle looking at the sun or "light" in preparation and hopes of the journey toward a better life that lay ahead of him. All in all, I think this song is about hitting rock bottom and having hope in rebounding to a happy or more stable life whether it be with God or with his girlfriend, you choose. Hope this helps! Peace and Love peeps, Later Rev. | |
| Creed – Beautiful Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| The fact that you people insist on arguing over who's right and who's wrong on a message board just to prove which music is better is in all pathetic. I'm not that big on Creed myself, but I'm not going to come in here and browbeat other people for liking a different kind of music. Just cause you like a particular thing doesn't mean it's the right way. In any case, the song's okay personally. I'm not that good with interpreting lyrics but it's worth the few minutes of your time to check it out if you're into that kinda music. Peace out peeps. Roll a dubby and take a chill pill and keep on rockin'. Later, Rev | |
