| Hey EstoMAnifesto, amazingly i also went to the grand rapids show, thursday is by far the most amazing concert i have ever seen, nothing even comes close, and thats comming out of 20 something bands( anatomy of a gohst was REAL close). This song is such a metaphor for the individual, and how society trys to take any sort of differnt thoughts or feelings away from us. sex is wrong until your married beacause the CHURCH and SOCIETY says so, and every body should WANT WAR with Iraq beacause its the " patriotic" thing to want. I stand interly for individuality and fight eve every day to maintain mine. maybe it was intended for a freind who dieded in a car crash. But Thursday has a Aproach to many thing in the same manner that tool does. Look beyond the Obvious. This song, to me, is about the preservarance of the human soul. Splintered piece of glass falls in the seat …gets caught broken windows, open locks, reminders of the youth we lost In trying so hard to look away from you we followed white lines to the sunset I crash my car everyday the same way ( here he implies that he has spent his days as a kid in a fight for something and that he has entered a endless,meaningless cycle of pain and suffering of which he cant ecscape beacause of it.) I know the song is about his freind, but it goes deeper then that. it goes into the emotional state he' in and teachs you that no matter what you have to pull through or else youll live in misary forever. comments wanted! |

| This is in my oppinion one one of the greatest set of lyrics in history, so far i have heard 5 beleifs on what this song means. I belive whole heartadly that this song was designed that the mind would percieve it in a number of number of ways. I really seee the drug addiction one and the love one. People will go to crazy extents for the love of another wether its right to do it or not. Some people are willing to push every phisical limit of a person to express their love. The fisting is just something to relate "phisical limits" to. Very cool song by the best band on the planet. Musicly, Lyricly, and emotionaly moving. | |

| ahhh Ticks and Leeches, the song about the liers cheaters and stealers in life. Ticks and Leeches is in my opinion the ultimate song about the freeriders. he talks about people who do nothing but leech off the strong, and as a result the strong become weak. those people who will stop at nothing to get what theywant, even if it means destroying those they love. I know people like this, and im sure you all do to. I dedicate this song to those and those people and i hope you choke on all that you take from us(as maynard implies) | |
