hahaha, "oooo, let's change skater boy, to sk8er boi! that is so hard core cool!!" that right there should be proof enough that avril is pop, and she sucks. i'm sorry, i know it's not cool when people come and express negative oppinions over and over, but dammit, something must be done to stop the poser bullshit! she is not a punk pioneer/role model or anything. if you want a true female punk rock role model, check out brody armstrong. if you don't know who she is, oh well. anyhow, this song just flat out isn't good. sure, it has a nice message, i like the message....but there's no depth to it. if there's no depth to a song, then it's just boring. and dammit, sk8er boi?!? that just pisses me off. what a fucking poser wannabe....i'm not even a punk rocker, and i know that that's bullshit. i think in true punk rock fashion, avril should get her ass beat on stage.....that would make me smile. and there's my 2 cents worth. sorry if i offended anyone, but i wanted to get this off my chest. i feel better now ps, if we start considering avril lavigne rock, we might as well consider shakira rock too....and that would just be wrong! |

| wadejunkie....now what can i say. you have insulted me, and no i am not hurt. moderately offended, but mostly just disappointed in your lack of understanding and intelligence. i don't recall my name being, anit-pop-punk...do you? no, anit-pop, meaning POP music, you know, britney spears, bsb, n-sync, AVRIL LAVIGNE. i hate that music, because it is not music. but yes i enjoy so called "Pop punk" and i am not afraid to admit it. i also like emo, although that is a stupid name to describe music, i also like "punk" such as rancid, nofx, the ramones, the used, the distillers etc...and lastly, i don't recal ever calling myself hardcore punk. i'm not, i don't believe in anarchy, i am not a true rebelious person, i do not dye my hair or wear huge chains etc. i just love the music, that's all. so perhaps when you quit trying to impress people by being oh so hardcore punkster...perhaps you will understand...it's all about the music, and what YOU like. fuck what anyone else thinks. | |

| sorry, i am just AMAZED at the ignorance and stupidity on this page...wow, it truly amazes me how people can express themselves through such powerful words like, fuck, shit, and i believe i saw dildo a few times. anyhow, i didn't read all the posts (i was laughing too hard) but i did read one at the top from "Punk182"...never ever in your lifetime should you say that the ramoes suck...they were the fathers of punk music my friend...nono, not the sex pistols, they came later...the ramones. just thought i'd clear that up for ya. but yeah, blink is ok, older stuff is better, but all in all they are alright. | i agree with everyone that says it's about death. it could be about any form of death, from aids to suicide, but by saying, "we need to talk about it, silence is not the way" and "i'm a stranger in this town" i see it as being about someone who is going to lose a friend, and how they don't understand so they need to talk about it, so they can understand better. it's just about fearing the loss of someone you care for, and how they can deal with it. bush rocks, and gavin is sexy! | |

| i'm not too sure, i got 2 impressions from this song. the first stanza makes me think of some form of sexual abuse. "you hide your face because they don't believe that it's true, They say it doesn't happen that often, but it's happening right now" those lines give me the chills, all i can think about is sexual abuse. but as the song progressed, i saw it more as getting away from a fucked up childhood. and talking about the town and the hate, is all the awful memories the person had to endure. i'm not sure, i could be way off base with either of those, but that's what i got from it. | |

wow, i had NO idea about the drag queen thing. but now that i read all those comments it makes perfect sense! but i also think this song can be interpretted to mean more than just that incident. i see it as referring to all predjudices and intolerance. for some reason the lyirics " Discard this message Throw this bottle back in the ocean Rip this page from the history books Smash all the street signs Erase all the maps Forget my name Forget my face Because it's going to rain And it never ends" bring crystal nacht (the night of broken glass) to mind. for those of you who don't know what that is, it was the night a bunch of germans went and smashed and destroyed every jewish shop and many jewish houses, pretty much symbolizing the start of the holocaust. i know the song has nothing to do with that, but since the lyrics spark that in my mind, it just seems like this song is about ALL predjudices. |

i know this song is old, and it's obvious what it's about. i just wanted to state that regardless of wether blink 182 is a "pop" band or not, this song is still amazing. i read the comments above, and was disgusted to see that more than one person commented on people with depression being stupid. fuck everyone of you that says that or thinks that. this song got me through some damn hard times that i could not control, and depression is a serious thing. and it's assholes like you who make people with depression want to kill themselves. so seriously people, grow up. people have problems, and life is tough, not everyone can be happy, so be sensitive about it. and for those of you who, like myself, can very much relate to this song...never forget the true meaning. | this song is sooo bad ass. and i agree, blink did kinda sell out, but after they released "take off your pants and jacket" they sort of redeemed themselves. they advanced musicaly. a good example would be "stay together for the kids" the lyrics and music are deeper and more advanced compared to their previous releases. i think box car racer is a great idea for tom! like "stay together for the kids", "i feel so" is much deeper and more advanced. after seeing the video, the song just touches me. it expresses so much with such simple words. and the music is perfect. i think it's about people who's child hoods were screwed up somehow...wether it was family problems, abuse, drugs...anything, but it's about how those problems screwed up their lives, and they want it to be different. but nothing can change, and it makes them feel so angry. i love it. it's perfect! | |
