i think she's saying she wants God to be her rest, etc., but if that's true, then i don't understand, "did you leave the darkness without me?" because there it sounds like she's talking about someone in her past or something. |

i think she's saying that to get to know people you start on the inside, at the inner core of who they are. i think she wants to get to the true being of a person, to transcend words, skin, stereotypes, or whatever could be on the surface. but i'm not sure what she means by being "caught like bottled water the light daughter." maybe she feels held in, not able to express herself, she is bottled up. (i don't know :) |

i don't think a lot of the pumpkins songs are just aobut one exact thing...i see it as he puts a lot of different thoughts and emotions into his songs..and i think they are hard to interpret. i love this song..but i couldn't realy tell u waht i think it means (like how treestump did) but i could tell u tah i can relate to it..and a lot of times it even makes me cry...i duno, the pumpkins music does that to me for some reason...it's realy hard to explain... |

i just love this song so much. i so agree with u dr. jacob...sheer brilliance. i especially love the line...when ur life is so so dreary , dream. but i think that a lot of times in pumpkins songs it's the overall meaning taht u get from their songs...and even if i don't get what some of his lines mean, i always can connect with what he's saying...i don't think i know any other band that affects me to the depths of my soul like the pumpkins...there's just somethin about em... |

so what's up with all this "going pop" crap? don't get me wrong, i don't like pop music....like britney or nsync (just look at who i say my fav bands are..) but im just sick of people sayin all the time "they went pop" or NOW they're on mtv..gasp...o please just get over it. i don't like when stuff is overplayed on the radio either, but hey what can ya do. i don't even know if u would say this song is "pop" or not, but i DO know it has a really good message, and that she has such an awesome voice. like people said above, i think everyone can relate to it in some way..keep it up pink :) |

i think the part where she says "and he washed me ashore..and he took my pearl, and left an empty shell of me" is about her bein raped....
this song is just so beautiful and sad...i absolutely love it. fiona apple is such an awesome musician AND poet...could someone please tell me again why people like j-lo and britney spears are at the top of the charts?!?!? grrrr |
