This song is amazing, both lyrically and musically. Such a poignant and probably painful perspective of someone who knows he is hurting himself and others with his addiction, but can't seem to stop. Plus it f***ing rocks. |

Oh and as far as drum tabs, you should really try to figure out drum parts on your own...it will make you a better player in the end. It's not that hard, trust me. That boomy sound...that's the bass drum. That "whack" is the snare. You can probably figure out the rest. |

"rugby"...please don't tell me you were serious. this song illustrates, as "mimicry" says, that those who think they are staying on the "straight and narrow" are often ignoring the misfortune and pleas for help of others. the whole album centers on the protagonist justifying his horrible actions by saying, "i do what i have to...it's a shame these other people don't get it." |

if by sick you mean cool, "holysweet," then i agree. if you mean sick as in offensive, i also agree - the fact that there are people who have relationships like this one is repulsive. but that someone wrote a great song about it is not. |

bravo, "fading." again, i think it's important to remember it's a story and not something directly from bazan's life, but your point is exactly right. too many christians criticize music and literature that desribes things that aren't "good," even though they are explorations of real life. plus, the use of sarcasm or satire is often unfortunately lost. |

it is important to keep in mind, as "designed" mentioned, that bazan is telling a story. i think any of us christians would agree that sex is a wonderful thing, with the right person. that is why the song is so amazing and tragic - the character uses beautiful language to describe an intimate moment, but it is unfortunately not with his wife. bazan strikes again - "winners" and "control" give me goosebumps every time. |
