Bruce Springsteen – My Hometown Lyrics | 19 years ago |
'My Hometown' is obviously about Freehold, NJ where Bruce was born and raised. His high school was Freehold Boro high school. Back in the 60s, race riots were very common, but it's pretty calm now. The textile mill he mentions is the Freehold Rug Mill. Recently, it's been converted into apartments for the poor. However, Lynn and jcarter are both wrong. He didn't come from a terrible place and his hometown is hardly dangerous. He does, however, no longer live there. He lives in Asbury Park. This is my all-time favorite song by any artist, because Freehold actually is my hometown. Bruce was born and raised 5 minutes from me, so he's a local legend. This song takes me right back to Main Street and the train tracks through the center of town. God, I miss Freehold when I'm at college. |
Bruce Springsteen – Born to Run Lyrics | 19 years ago |
"Sprung from cages out on highway 9" Highway 9, usually called Route 9, runs north and south through a large part of Jersey. Specifically, it connects the two parts of Jersey that Bruce seems to identify most with. One is "My Hometown" and Bruce's- Freehold, NJ. The other is Asbury Park, NJ. This song is one of my favorites by a hometown legend. |
Dropkick Murphys – Tessie Lyrics | 19 years ago |
yeah...that was supposed to be "McGreevey" |
Dropkick Murphys – Tessie Lyrics | 19 years ago |
MattieCamp is right you morons. I'm sitting here looking at the lyrics from Dropkick's single that they themselves wrote. It's "Nuff said MxGreevey" |
The Vandals – C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Actually, you can't leave it up to the Vandals to make a sick song like this. The original song was written by the Yobs, not that I expect you to know who they are. |
Toby Keith – The Taliban Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I'll have to disagree with both of you. Toby Keith is just fucking around here; he's not really being serious. Were you two born without a sense of humor? |
Metallica – Whiskey in the Jar (Thin Lizzy cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Oh, and if anyone cares to argue...feel free to drop me a line. AIM- OUTPATIENT44 |
Metallica – Whiskey in the Jar (Thin Lizzy cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Am I the only one who thinks Metallica raped an amazing song? The only good version of these besides the classic folk version is The Pogues. Now, I love hard rock or punk versions of traditional folk music. Hell, I love Dropkick Murphys and all that sorta thing. But, Metallica fucked this one up and the lyrics they use are total shite. |
The Exploited – Sex And Violence Lyrics | 20 years ago |
just a thought, but the sex pistols weren't an 80s band like it was claimed |
Sham 69 – Borstal Break-Out Lyrics | 20 years ago |
yeah, this is the "extended version" where all the lyrics are replaced by lines from other songs |
Dropkick Murphys – Four Dead Cheerleaders Lyrics | 20 years ago |
it sounds nothing like any band mentioned, it's probably some underground band |
Sex Pistols – Liar Lyrics | 20 years ago |
malcolm didn't fire matlock and bring in sid. johnny did. he hated glen, who he said was an asshole. he brought in sid so he'd have a friend in the band |
Good Charlotte – Riot Girl Lyrics | 21 years ago |
this song makes me want to die. or kill GC, either way... anyway, this totally distorts what riot girl is. aside from that, a piece of shite pop punk band should not able to mention legends like social d and minor threat |
Sham 69 – You're A Better Man Than I Lyrics | 21 years ago |
the meaning of this song is obvious, so i won't state it. but i will say this is an amazing song |
Taking Back Sunday – Cute Without The 'E' (Cut From The Team) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
this song fucking sucks. sorry to be rude and disturb you're prebuscent pop-punk "i love the guys they are such punx" party, but my friend made me listen to it and it was one of the most inane and retarded songs i ever heard. there, i said it. i feel better. pop-punk sucks. and if i ever hear someone call these guys punk, you'll find their headless body tied up in my room. thank you. |
Sex Pistols – Anarchy in the U.K. Lyrics | 21 years ago |

System of a Down – Prison Song Lyrics | 22 years ago |
great song. see also: The Decline by NOFX |
Goldfinger – Counting The Days Lyrics | 22 years ago |
next person (after my post) who attempts to use Sum 41 in the same sentance/post/lifetime as Goldfinger deserves to be kicked in the teeth. |
Dropkick Murphys – The Gauntlet Lyrics | 22 years ago |
besides, you got the meaning wrong. it's about friendship and sticking together. notice the part: Stand up and fight and I'll stand up with you! We shall succeed Stand up and fight and I'll stand up with you! |
Dropkick Murphys – The Gauntlet Lyrics | 22 years ago |
ZeeAap, you are retarded. a lot of their songs have meanings. first of all, they don't just get drunk and shout oi! ever hear Boys on the Docks? that has a meaning. it's about a man who was hero to the Irish immigrants. how about Curse of a Fallen Soul? This song is for anybody who has lost a friend to drugs, alchohol, etc. next time you think you want to comment on the best band ever, shut up! |
