most of you are wrong, this song is not about a cult dammit, or fricken drugs....it is about THE Hotel California, it's a mental institution not far from Los Angeles called, can u guess? Hotel California. It's for the criminally insane. There is no lockdown policy there (Hence "you can check out anytime but you can never leave"). People try to think too hard about a song's meaning. A lot of times it is much simpler than that. Look this up if you don't believe me. |

this song is truly one of the greatest pieces of art by Weezer, certainly my favorite of all their songs. I can totally relate to the phrase, "i need help and you're way across the sea." this song is straight up money...it is arguably the best track on Pinkerton (along with just about every other song). For people who dont listen to much of the green album because many think it sucks, check out other songs like "O Girlfriend" and "Smile" and find out that the embarassment of Island in the Sun and Hashpipe can easily be made up for. |
