punk starr... so tru! i logged in to see if there was anyone else that understood this song the same way i did. dude, it's sooo about how he cares about this chik and he's been completely honest about his feelings towards her. yet everytime he thinks that he's getting close to her, that he's actually getting somewhere w/ her, she puts up one of her many walls and runs! he's pist at how he can be so honest w/ her and expects the same honesty from her, but apparently she won't tell him the truth. she obv sends him mixed signals, which is why he feels that at times things may be going somewhere, but then when he's at the door, she locks him out. the chik was prob hurt before and runs to avoid gettin hurt again. he's trying to prove to her that he wouldnt' do that. but she runs and doesn't manage to give him the chance. he's bitter b/c he knows he can make her happy. now he's at a point that he doesn't want to move on but is thinking about it. however he wants to make it a point to her that she shouldn't feel sorry for him b/c she didn't give them "a chance to be". now he just wants closure. yet she still runs b/c she thinks he still wants more. that he still wants her. not only will she not tell him what's up, but she won't admit that things didn't happen b/wn them because she's guarded.... **FOR me, all this is true, but reversed. my guy is the one running away from me. suks, but i've been there myself before. so i know where he's coming from, but i learned to not be that way...*FUCK LIFE'S TOO SHORT...IF YOU PUT UP WALLS B/C U'VE BEEN HURT THAN YOUR LETTING THE PERSON THAT FUCT U OVER STILL RULE YOUR LIFE BY BLOCKING/MISSING OUT ON OPPORTUNITIES AND OTHER PEOPLE THAT CAN BE GOOD FOR YOU* |

The whole idea about the guy not trusting the chick. Yeah, I so see it now. The mask he finds is obv the proof he has on her that she's lied. And, he expects there to be more "lies to come" as he confronts her and asks her what will she do w/ that mask (proof). |

well...this song is great, but you gotta really use u'r imagination to understand the double connotation of the words. He's actually talking about the drugs he used. To me, he writes this at a stand point where he no longer uses. It's abt the actual addiction he had and the affect the drugs had on him, as well as the reason for taking them, i.e. his strained relationship with his father and his low self esteem for mistakes and what not. It seems that he's admitting that he ran to drugs to feel better abt himself and what was going on with his father. So now he's having to deal sober and straight and realizes how "great" he felt when he was high. How it felt to be NUMB and forget, at least for a brief moment all the bull shit he was going through. He has full creative authority over his music videos so in this case the video and the connotation of a romance, is just him playing on the double connotation and making you have to look deeper. Which creates more of an interest in the public and completely shows how imiginative he is in his lyrics and in directing his music videos as a form of expression and art. |
