A little meaning to this song that I hope doesnt ruin it for some of you guys - Brian wrote the song for his brother who was moving out of their home when they were younger and "Ill take you everywhere" would pretty much sum up how brian would feel about him if he were still around. In addittion, mike told me in an email that "Ill take you everywhere" were some of the first words he told his girlfriend when they first got together, so the band decided the title fit perfectly for each and own's meaning in making the name for the song. Kind of cool huh? |

Glassrose is seriously a tough song to ignore in that it has one of the coolest openings ever. Its a straight-through hard-rock kick in the head identifying time spent driving's signature technique of pounding your ears with clean distortion and bringing you right back into the realm of calm acoustics. As always, time spent driving suceeds in making an already kickin' song better by adjusting the mid-song breakdown with such honesty and bringing the listener right back with a chorus full of live and depth. The piano only intensifies the process by adding an eerie and signature sound to glass rose. Unique and a well-done job once again.Word. |

Angel and I is probably the best example of the musical direction Time Spent Driving has turned in. Much more fast-paced and pop-ish, its very catchy and much more special due to the fact that the band can change course so good. Angel and I is an excellent choice for an opening track. The lyrics seem to hit a more personal level which sometimes adds interest and depth into the track. The chorus stands out and adds excellence to the second verse after the band breaks down a very cool softer sound and drops right back to the chorus. Very cool jam. I really dig it as an opener. |

Wow. This song throws too much limitation on how much I can describe my feelings for it. I recently listened to the new time spent driving album only days ago and my jaw dropped after hearing the beauty lyrically as well as musically during the reason I stay. You can really hear the honesty straight from Jon's whispers in singing throughout the track. What really grabbed hold of me however, was the point in which the band breaks down into a soft riff with a very very amazing guitar line aligned with his voice as he whispers "My joints buckle, under the weight of this wall, under the weight of it all." After this riff, the distortion draws right back but this time with piano, pulling you in and letting you really feel it. Its just an amazing moment and truly increases the beauty of the song contruction. Awesome stuff. One of my favorites already.

This is probably the most special TSD song to me. It captivated me due to the lyrical depth and discription (which is sometimes a hard task in itself for other bands to accomplish). Like a poem turned into music, this song really helped me through alot and has withstood the test of time as being my favorite time spent driving song by far. It fits perfect as an album closer and can only be identified as sheer perfection if listened to thoroughly. The driving guitars and heart-pounding drum lines exceed what true music-making is about and this song is what time spent driving is about - honesty and emotion at its best. Patterson Pass can explain these elements best.Just read the lyrics. |

This was the first song that really caught my attention from this amazing band. The lyrics hit close to home and are therefore very important to me. I really like the opening drumline and then the vocals and band that blends right into it making it a classic example of what good emotion should sound like. Somewhere along the middle of the song there is a breakdown in which two guitars are aligned to make a clean riff that carries out a heavier climax to end the song. Ive never really heard another band perfect this so well and with such emotion. The lyrics are unbelievably good and this is why penfold is truly my favorite band out there and very underrated at that. The best kept secret for sure. June partly why. |

This song best identifies the growth penfold has undergone between their older six song ep and the new album. The Sound of Jazz is a beautifully structurized track that opens with a digital delay dream-like sound that best describes the lyrics given throughout. What really captivates me about the sound of jazz however, are the lyrics upon the climax of the song in which Carley sings "wake up and stand tall, they're waiting outside of your door. we can't stop if we slow down now we'll never get there. that's fine, x marks the spot not where a life begins, but where a life begins to matter..." then sums chorus up and reviews upon the purpose "be her eyes/leave her alone" You can feel it and penfold can deliver once again. Feeding your ears with audio beauty and lyrical honesty. Pure emotion once again. One of the more amazing tracks the band has and that might be an understatement.

A little faster-paced song from a band known for a generally slower-paced sound. The Secret Nine demonstrates the fact that penfold can rock you out and pull you in just as they do with their softer ballads. And not only is this track gripping by chorus, but unique all in that penfold sound you know too well and adore. "And I wake up, will I ever be the same? Understand the sacrifice we made.." Words falling into place as screamed by breathtaking vocals. I find myself wondering how some songs can be created so good. Butterflies and Chills galore. So amazing and such a damn good song. |

Brilliance definately qualifies as being one of my favorite penfold songs simply because it means so much to me and sums up alot of the experiences ive had lately in life and will have in these coming months of change.This song ( as cheesy as this might sound ) really helped me get through alot and make changes needed personally. "If lady day could only know how she's saving me now" - Lyrics i can seriously relate to. This song is probably the best lyrically-amazing example of what penfold can do musically as well as in text and words. In addittion, the track has alot of transitions with digital voice delay which makes the listening experience very discriptive and simply beautiful. A softer tone from an emotionally driven band.The experimintation landmarks a new sound for penfold and also allows a narration from brian carley (lead singer) like reading a book with the lyrics in the forms of sound and vocals.Sounds that put you in a place somewhere inside your thoughts.Somewhere very deep,very unique and very amazing. In sum - Brilliance. |

Penfold is definately my favorite band and kissing the nightmare would probably be one of the best reasons why. I can't think of other artists that can construct and create such a masterpiece song from an awesome intro leading and building into an outro that makes you want to get up and scream. Climax galore and with no surprise coming from penfold, which specializes the perfect build-up for the perfect song- Kissing the nightmare. Intesity packed in a six minute track proving to be THE best penfold song in my opinion. This is emotion and penfold is the ultimate author for it. Kissing the nightmare - By FAR one of the greatest songs ever created by any band.
One word - Amazing.
