Yeah, so I wrote this song while watching some previews for that Britney movie. It just kind of made me mad, I mean...the world condems so many people b/c we don't conform to society and look like Britney and dance and shake it all...but are still "good role models" while meanwhile singing songs about being love slaves. Uh huh...virgin?? Maybe...most likely not. N-E-Ways, it makes me sick. I mean, I turned down a big time modeling contract because I realized that I could never, ever be so superficial or conform. I don't care if others do it...good money, more power to ya...I just don't think that these pop stars (not all...some are ok, maybe even cool) should be how society judges girls. This is prob my most lighthearted little ditty...but it gets the point across. I let lose and gave the most simplistic lyrics I could to kind of exemplify the fluffy brains of most superficial so called divas. So, I explained it...the song meanings mission is done..lol. |

Just a question...what does NFG, Blink 182 and Box Car Racer have to do with this song at all? Ummm...nothing. Yup, that's it. Who cares who you guys like or not like..everyone is differant and as long as everyone is united under the punk banner...nobody should be insulting anyone else. Punk is about unity..not dissension. (Unless you're a sex pistol) Punks need to unite...not condemn. So who really cares about this band being better/worse or sellout or not...whatever. None of that has anything to do w/ anything at all. No offense guys/girls. I like this song..and I'm going w/ the Religious war idea as well. Till later...peace, love, unity and all that stuff... |

If only every person in the world read this and actually got it. So many people are so pathetic about.."OMG...now their *Gasp!* cool! Now I can't like them...I hvae to like some unknown band..." It's really pathetic. I mean, yes, bands have sold out...but just b/c they are suddenly liked...they may be playing the same stuff...but they become popular and it's like they can't like the song that used to be their favorite. Quite honestly, I hate pop music and popular culture...but I kinda like this song. The sad part is...I never even knew who this chick was until my friends in one of our local punk bands decided to cover it. Personally, seeing as how I'm a girl, I like their version better and Matt is a lot sexier than her...but it's a cool song. Hey...check them out...you may like their version..it's cool. To Wilco...Hey dude..whatever...it's cool. I'm such a pacifist I don't wanna argue. That was actually the 1st time I ws ever on cd now by the way...just to see MC5 release dates b/c personally I never really prefered them. Good, yes they are...but not my favs. I guess you said it all when you said "it is mostly agreed in many circles" A lot of people believe differant. Like, if ya read The Ramones Anthology book. (yes...i got em all...lol) it says differant. Some cite a group called the Spindellas, some cite the New York Dolls..and personally I don't really care. All I know is that b/c of the Ramones...I learned guitar, bass and drums. I fell in love w/ Bad Religion, NOFX, Rancid, Goldfinger, Dead Kennedys, Sex Pistols, The Clash...yes even the Misfits and even Calibretto 13. The list goes on of course...I've lived the punk life in a small hypocritical town that hates punk (only one more within 20 min of my house...all my punker pals live 20 min or more away) and been proud of who i am. Commenting on the misfits..their shows rock....i luv em. And just b/c i'm only 18 doesn't mean that I don't know anything...not saying that you said that...i felt it was implied. Well, honestly, whatever. I think that all these people need to stop worrying about "sell outs" and everything else (by the way..Travis is a cool drummer) and just live the punk lifestyle...make a good name for punks. Ya know?? Instead of worrying about petty stuff...live...life's too short...and for some it's even shorter. Later... |

I totally know what this is about. Nothing against Blink, I like em, but you're not punk just b/c you wear safety pins and shirts that say "punk princess" or whatever and listen to Blink 182 or Sum 41. I mean, I like them both...but it doesn't make you punk. Even Bad Religion doesn't make you punk, your lifestyle and beliefs do. It's more than a style of music, or clothes. It's an entire subculture and belief system. Why can't people see that??? So, this whole "punk is the new trend" thing is getting old really fast. |
