Just an idea... but I think this song is completely related with the Trojan horse. The battle was thousands of years ago which would explain all the connections to fossils. The fight was a strange attempt to win, and even though it worked they probably thought they were going to die. And also... it'd be the battleground and tomb for many. Lastly, it's a horse that can't move (quadriplegic) and a "carriage" for the soldiers that were there to attack those in Troy.. or was it Troy that got attacked? Bah, I'm not running on enough sleep to anaylze.. I'll look at this tomorrow and wonder what on earth I was thinking. |

You kids sure like to bring up the anti-Christian sentimentality and Christian sentimentalities into this a lot... it's great music... enjoy it, derive what meaning you want to from it, but please stop complaining about other's opinions. It's an amazing rendition of an old Poe poem. By the way.. one incite, if you're going to be neutral, you probably shouldn't tack on an extra statement like (btw Thrice isn't Christian) onto the end of your comment, it pretty much defeats the purpose of your neutrality. Poetry and lyrics are subjective even if they have a meaning, let's keep it that way. |

I think there's also a connection in the first stanza, eye - sight, heart - blood/feeling, mouth - speaking out...or something like that....I don't think I got the symbolism right but I still think there's a connection there |

I was kinda thinking this was referring to cocaine, cuz of "lace me up," when you talk about something being laced, it's cocaine, and it's also known as "angel" dust, and it's white, "snow." |

I'm guessing the thing about the Holocaust is probably right, it would make sense in the context of the song, but - punk - was right too, a phoenix is a legendary bird, most often connected with flames and rebirth. So this song does relate to the Holocaust, but it's also a metaphor for surviving and going against all odds. |

Oh wow, I love this song, I just signed on and saw it posted but I havent listened to it in a long time. I never really could get a full grasp on this song though. I kind of think it's about a relatioinship where the other person wanted something to deep, and this person wanted to get away from all the "drama." |
