Bright Eyes – Everything Must Belong Somewhere Lyrics 18 years ago
I think it's a satirical look at someone trying to comfort themselves over the injustices in the world by suggesting that they are natural and all in their rightful place. When infact, they are rather negative situations that deserve attention and ultimately change. I think the song works to recognize these injustices, the emotional burden it puts on us, and how we often rationalize the situation to more easily reconcile the burden, but not the injustice.

Oh and personally I can't help but take the lyrics as somewhat sarcastic and patronizing for the effect of satire. The lyrics seem purposefully over simplified with such a light and whimsical approach that it seems to be poking fun at such beliefs and not paying homage to them.

"With worms in his hair and a hand so sturdy" is not a fitting tribute to divine resurection.

But hey I'm an atheist.

Here's what lyricist Michael Nau says about being called a christian band:

"The 'Christian band' inquiry wears me out, to be honest. As for the Christian symbols in my writing - sometimes I don’t even realise that they exist until someone points them out to me. There’s really no reason; it just rolled out that way."
