That "It's common knowledge that; you've been dead for a while" line is referring to how Jesus died on the cross for us, duh. And if you'd actually LISTEN to the other songs on their record, almost all of them talk about God in one part or another. But this song is really beautiful, no matter how bad others may DISTORT it *coughNirvanafreak94cough*
Anyways, this song made me cry the first time I heard it. It just reached me on so many different levels. I love it a lot! ^_^ |

To me, it sounds like his girlfriend had left him, and then came back. I suppose that's why I love it so much... It's kind of like what my boyfriend did to me... But anyways that line "So today, Know that never again will I know you that way" just made me break down and cry. (By the way, these lyrics are a little off, no da!) But anyways, this is one of my two favorite acoustic songs. The other is "Silence" ny Blindside. ^_^ |

Ok, let me say this. Chevelle may not be a Christian band, but the guys in the band are Christians. One thing, tho.... Chevelle's cds are sold at Christian bookstores... But, I was totally psyched the first time I heard this song. I was like "Yes! Chevelle is back!!!" Anyways, I agree that the song's probablly about being a loner. "The red" definitely represents anger. I just think that in order to get the meaning of a song, you have to think outside the box. Unless we're talking about that crap that HAS no meaning (i.e.- most pop and rap)... |

I actually started crying the first time I heard this song. I started shaking really really bad. The words cut really deep. I feel exactly the same way. I mean, that line "Hang my head low cause it's part of me". Goddamn, that's what I DO. It still gives me the chills when I listen to it. God, it's CREEPY how much it's like me! The first time I heard this song was at one of Fingertight's shows a few months ago when they were touring with Chevelle. I nearly cried because it reminded me so much of some of the things I was dealing with in my life at the time. But I'm happy to say it's one of my favorite songs now. ^_^ |
