| Snap – Rhythm Is A Dancer Lyrics | 9 years ago |
| The line "I'm serious as cancer when I say: rhythm is a dancer" must be among the worst of the century. Otherwise great fun, that song and the lyrics pretty much self-explaining: rhythm is a dancer - what else is there to say? | |
| Foo Fighters – Everlong Lyrics | 14 years ago |

100% agreed. by the way, i think the song is about that magic first moments when you fall in love, the moment you just wish to last forever. |

| Emilíana Torrini – Fingertips Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
"sad replaced by mean" - i'd always thought it'd rather be "set ablaze by me"?! about the meaning, i also think the song is about masturbation, which is quite obvious - there might be a deeper meaning behind the obvious as it is rather allusive than vulgar. of course the meaning could be anything, from the roots of universe to metaphysic or whatever, doesn't change the fact that she sings about how her fingertips go round and round, her eyes are closed, there's an electrical current that lifts her spirit, she's free of pain, feels no shame, her fingertips smell of sodden ground... |

| Poison the Well – Ghostchant Lyrics | 16 years ago |

some of you already wrote that the song seems to be about a self-destructive person who is gambling with her life. that part How many times have you woken up in a strangers arms covered in the gasoline as they hover above you with the match they ignite. somehow makes me think of HIV/AIDS. spending the night with random strangers, not caring about protection - the risk he/she is exposing her/himself to is like being covered with gasoline, only waiting for someone to ignite the match (=infect her/him). |

| Kraftwerk – Pocket Calculator Lyrics | 18 years ago |

| The Sisters of Mercy – Marian Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
the alternative version of the german part is actually alright, while the part above the line contains some errors, just in case somebody needs to copy and paste a version with correct spelling. the "oe" in "hoeren" etc., could be replaced by the umlaut "ö", of course. |
|
| The Teardrop Explodes – Ha Ha I'm Drowning Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| the lyrics are quite self-explaining. smash hit. | |
| Public Enemy – Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i wonder whether chuck d is racist | |
| Kraftwerk – The Model Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| description of shallow, superficial 80's yuppie culture | |
| Pearl Jam – MFC Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| one of the few really good songs on "yield" | |
| Kool and the Gang – Get Down On It Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| saw kool & the gang 2 years ago and it was one hell of a f'kin party! | |
| Kool and the Gang – Celebration Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| stoolhardy is right, but i think he missed out on the ontological implications of the term "celebration". on the other hand, post-structuralists might think of it as a pure means to express ontologically inherent emotions (of cranes or polar bears). | |
| KC & The Sunshine Band – That's The Way (I Like It) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| it's a shame the lyrics don't match that awesome groove. just listen to that hi-hat!! | |
| Meshuggah – Future Breed Machine Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| @metalheadm - no melody? i heard a lot of them. i love all those dissonant melodies thordendal comes up with in those spacy parts. | |
| At the Gates – Blinded By Fear Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| oh, and i thought it was almost symphonic power metal. | |
| Björk – It's Oh So Quiet Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| worst björk song ever... i wonder why she put it on "post", it doesn't really fit in... maybe that's just why | |
| Rage Against the Machine – People Of The Sun Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| funny though, that the aztecs were imperialists themselves and oppressed the tribes in their surroundings - which enabled the europeans to form alliances with those tribes against the aztecs.. otherwise they would not have been able to defeat them.. (of course even that local support would not have been enough without european germs causing sicknesses which soon spread and killed big part of the indigenous population...) | |
| Soundgarden – Pretty Noose Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i'm not a native speaker, could anybody tell me what the expression "What you got me hanging from" means? Is it like "I don't like what you make me do for you"? |
|
| Massive Attack – Black Milk Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| @vitalic - had to think of this poem too. it's about the mass murder of the jews in auschwitz in WW2. black milk might be a symbol of hopelessness and despair. | |
| Massive Attack – Safe From Harm Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
i think it is about her wishing to protect her love and also her ability to love in the violent times we have. "you can free the world, you can free my mind" might be an ironic statement on the 1990/91 political situation with western countries starting to "export" western values like political freedom to the world, sometimes using violence and war; while at the same time on european and us-american streets everyday violence made (and makes) people feel unsafe. i suppose there's more to it, i don't quite get the context between what she sings and what 3D says. |
|
| Depeche Mode – Walking In My Shoes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| martin gore is one of the best musicians of our time... | |
| Isis – False Light Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
wow, well. that's tough stuff but an interesting thing to know. i like my interpretation better cause it's my interpretation of lyrics and music together, but reading the lyrics again i admit that yours might be more accurate. |
|
| The Doors – Break on Through (To the Other Side) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
sure sb already wrote that, but bearing in mind the lifestyle of that time, morrison's excessive drug abuse and the fact that even the band's name actually was inspired by aldous huxley's book "the doors of perception" which is on drugs, lots of the lyrics of this band deal with that issue, i think. this would be one them. |
|
| Tocotronic – Neues vom Trickser Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| schön offen für interpretation... ich glaube, er meint sich und seine texte selbst. weniger plakativ, mehr verschlüsselt - eins zu eins ist jetzt vorbei. | |
| Cave In – Big Riff Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
i love this line: "and we continue to chase the sun only to burn up both our hands" i agree with some of you that the song is relating to christian religion, but in this line i see the human wish to always want impossible things that seem so desirable - and the privations we suffer as we always fail; i think it is a very good metaphora. |
|
| Isis – False Light Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| the whole album is about dissolving in something that is greater than the individuum; i think it is the perfect acoustical conversion of drawning. hard parts in which the individuum struggles against those forces that are stronger then him; quiet parts like you give in and accept your fate. great band, great album (oceanic). | |
| Slayer – Angel Of Death Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
the song is great like many slayer songs but the lyrics really are a problem for me as a german. i think slayer just want to provocate, breaking the understanding of decency of the majority of the people (like "political correctness") - i don't think they're nazis but i think theyre quite stupid and - sorry - when i read some of your comments here i can only wonder if there aren't any history lessons taught in the USA. anyways, it's kinda easy and cheap to provocate by using nazi aesthetik, either verbal or their symbols and i think it was very superfluous by slayer to do so. but i also heard that tom araya justified the pinochet regime of chile and jeff hanemann pointed out positive aspects of the hitler regime so maybe they really aren't just ignorant americans but supporters of totalitarism. |
|
| Opeth – Deliverance Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
i love the song, it's really great songwriting but i dont really get the lyrics. does he metaphorically refer to a relationship or ist this just chliche deathmetal stuff about sin, darkness and ..death without any deeper sense behind it? |
|
| No Fun At All – Second Best Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| relationships are just one big fuck... on the other hand i could enumerate about 1000 songs that would not have been written without fucked up relationships... | |
| Thursday – Cross Out The Eyes Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
some mentioned this song is about death; maybe i am mistaken since i am not a native english speaker; but i used to think it was about the end of a relationship and what he says about death was more like a metaphora; like the death of the relationship. i mean - if his partner/friend died, why would he sing "We can rise on the wings of the dove See blue skies getting caught in the trail of all this smoke We can rise like candles in the dark your always" and an envelope marked with your new address" |
