I'm going to try to ressurect a dead art, and actually talk abou tthe meaning of the son...on SONGMEANINGS.NET. My generation's ability to listen to simple suggestions/instructions scares the living hell out of me... Anyway, I think the song's mostly a double entrende. About a broken relationship (big whoop for a Fall Out Boy song), but also about how they've changed over the years. "Baby, seasons change but people don't And I'll always be waiting in the back of the room I'm boring but overcompensate with Headlines and flash flash flash photograpy But don't pretend you ever forgot about me Dont pretend you ever forgot about me" Basically saying "I haven't changed." It may not seem like I do much, but I can make headline. I'm either too routine, or too flashy. (I love how they hit the snare when they say "flash flash flash photography") "Wouldn't you rather be a widow than a divorcee? Style your wake for fashion magazines Widow or a divorcee? Don't pretend Don't pretend" Wouldn't you rather me die and fade way, than live and plague your thoughts forever? Would you rather us call a hiatus than take the risk of change? "They say your head can be a prison, Then these are just conjugal visits, People will dissect us till This doesn't mean a thing anymore" Your mind is locking you in a simple thought, I'm a way of bringing change and a breath of fresh air into your monotonous life. Media and society picks at everything until it's all broken up and gone. We smile and enjoy life without others, without constant judgment. When you are by yourself, you can listen to our music, and not judge change. Because though we have, it's for the better. Honestly, I'm in love with this song. A great song by TFK As for its meaning...I may be completly wrong in this. But I think this is from the POV of a solider prepping/about to go to war. The song says a lot of things to suggest going to war/battle. The scene I kindof get is a soldier lying down the night before he's to enter war, and reflects on his loved one. And how he realizes hes not ready for the battle without her. "I'm going in so cover me Your compass will help me turn the page The laughing stock I'll never be 'cause I won't let them take me" This kinda reminds me of him about to "go into" battle, and all he needs is her to "cover" him. Also, the bit about the compass helping him find his way in the battlefield...and the laughing stalk part could result to a captured prisoner of war, and how they are hated by their country/laughed and jested at by the capturers (Think of the stocks back in medievil times where rotton food was thrown at them) "It's time to rest not to sleep away My thoughts alone try to complicate I'll do my best to seek you out, to be myself, and not to impersonate" I also this this is him lying awake in bed at night, thinking of what he has to do tomorrow, and how he will keep her in mind. Kind of a muse to battle maybe? and how a battlefield is filled with so much hate and anger, that he will stay the true and pure person he is by keeping her in mind. I know I read WAY too much into it, but I like to offer different meanings to this site other than the blatant-ass meanings you could get from simply looking at the words.. |

"No joke," she says "I'll leave you, I'd never think to treat you like this I can't believe it I'll give you 3 more chances then I'm gone for good" I get SO much out of that lyric. to me at least it means that the girl is sick of being treated like she is. But she cares for him so much that she cant bring herself to leave her, but still feels the need to keep her dignity. The repetiton in the chorus show how horrible shes feeling. "No joke, I'll leave you, I'd NEVER thing to treat you like this, I can't believe it." But then she realizes how much she cares for the guy, and downright needs him and says "...I'll give you three more chances then I'm gone for good" When she knows herself she'll never be able to leave him. I love the chorus from this song. Houston Calls did a good job on it |

...this song is kinda cool..but i have to admit, this song is pathetic.. That is a horrible verse...and if you notice the second verse, he says nothing about a dream. and this song is so...emo...its painful..i mean you think a song with lyrics like this would much darker and heavier...but its just more 20 year olds in tight jeans screaming abou their "Torment and Pain" or in other words, "why my 2 week girlfriend broke up with me" This song would do better as a screamo song..or metal-ish or something..btu this song is just too...whiney..and almost happy...its all WAAHH!! I SHOT A KID!! WAAH! I SLIT YOR THROAT! ...so in conclusion, Vote NO! for Emo. <.< but thats just my outtake on it... |
