orangesteamboat, thats a great story. i tried to go on that site and unfortunately it didn't work but i will try and find the story :) it makes so much sense if it is about that story, because dc and rhw are good friends hence why jodie from rhw does lots of backing on dc songs.
brokenfairy, no they do say sweet slumber. i thought i was hearing things too but if you look at the lyrics they do in fact say it lol
i love this song. i didn't like it at first but now i love it. i love singing along to the backing rather than the main song because i always prefer doing the melody lol. anyway laterz |

Okay before I start I'd like to add my comments on the whole "not emo" thing. I'm no music expert but emo is whatever you want it to be. I agree that it has developed into a generic term for a certain type of music, but every song is written around emotions, so any song CAN be emo, in MY opinion. I just wish people would make this place a little less hostile and respect each others' opinions. It is true that this site is for criticism as well but what is not acceptable is criticising people's personal tastes and ideas and opinions. Also, "you suck" or "this song sucks" is not exactly very constructive, is it?
Chris Carrabba is a genius in my opinion. He's touched so many people on a personal level with his songs, which are so easy to relate to if you have an ounce of emotion in you. Sure, he may be a little whiny and acoustic, but that's just how it is. If he was screaming to thrash metal, there would still be people who didn't like it. He can't please everyone, but he's pleasing lots of people and he's doing well for himself. The most important thing is that he enjoys the work he does, and so do tens of thousands of other people.
Anyway, I love this song. I can relate to every single word of this song it's SCARY. To me, this song is about two friends, a guy and a girl. the guy (or the girl if you're a girl like me and relate it to your own situation) wants the friendship to move onto the next level, but he feels that his efforts to impress the girl are not working, and are not appreciated. the guy is in denial that things are wrong and he's trying to reassure himself that she's just having a bad day or something ("please tell me you're just feeling tired"). He feels that any physical contact between them is forced and/or ungenuine on her part ("closed lipped, another goodnight kiss is robbed of all its passion, your grip another time is slack") and he feels that they're drifting apart.
the reason i can relate to this so much (not that any of you care but whatever) is that i was friends with a guy and i wanted to get closer to him but he liked someone else, and i felt that even as friends we were drifting apart. this song helped me to cope somehow and now i am totally over this guy and doing much better for myself.
dashboard helps people live and be happy, i have NEVER heard any music by any other band (let alone just one guy!) who touches me (and so many others i know) so personally with such beautiful words.
i'm going to shut up now cos i talk too much. i could go on forever about dashboard but you get the idea how much i think they rock. |

I love this song. I feel sorry for the guy singing it, although when I hear some of the lyrics I think that a certain someone I know should be saying them to me. Like "the right words are never ones i say" "feeling bad that i threw you away" "i'm sorry for letting you down" and "if i die alone it's my own fault". If someone sang this to me I would have to forgive them no matter what they had done, it's just that beautiful and touching. |

i love this song, i like the bit at the beginning. these lyrics here are wrong though, i think, it's "Cradlecap and funny skin and thin" not "Cradlecap and funny sports and thin". Is there anywhere on this site you can correct lyrics? Cos I've seen a few other mistakes... Anyway love the song! |

i heard of dc about 6 months ago but at first i preferred saves the day because i thought dc were too acoustic, but these days i'm just forever being captovated everytime i hear another dc song. this is one of my most favourite songs by dc, i can relate to it a lot because i'm always trying to get noticed by guys and when i first heard this song i cried. i still goosebumps every time i sing along. it's just so beautiful and chris is a genius with an amazing voice. i could go on forever! |
