| Peter Tosh – Burial Lyrics

yea steppingrazor has the right idea.
it's jus the musician renouncing violence: the gangsters want him to come to their funerals. they say they are the generals (the leaders of the gangster warriors).
he says he's disgraced at how they steal from people. both gangsters of the ghetto stealing from other poor people and the ruling class taking resources away from the disenfranchised.
when you try to get rich you spend all your time in hell. and for the rich there is no greater pleasure than destroying those who are of less value than you. that is what he is saying. |

this song is about the shift in human society from being nomadic hunter-gatherers to being agriculturalists, capitalists, and industrialists. it's about how we fucked up the earth. |

| Chamillionaire – Ridin' Lyrics

chamillionaire is demonstrably riding clean while krayzie bone is not.
i agree that the message would have been more powerful had the song not included bone's verse, which i think detracts from what cha is trying to say about hpd's corruption. it sends a mixed message in that while cha is unfairly treated by law enforcement, bone doesn't really have an excuse in the context of lawful behavior vs. corrupt police racially profiling.
in fact, the entire chorus seems to counter what bone is saying; the police are profiling in the attempt to pin drug charges on a young black male (trying to catch him "riding dirty") without success, while if krayzie were pulled over he would surely be justifiably (by american law standards) arrested.
to those who assert that chamillionaire was, in fact, ridin' dirty:
"Ride clean as hell, so I pull in ladies/Laws on patrol and you know they hate me"
"Cause they think they know/that they catchin me with plenty of the drank and dro' (No)"
"When they realize I ain't even ridin dirty/Bet you'll be leavin with an even madder mood"
"You can't arrest me"
in conclusion, cha was not ridin' dirty. krayzie bone was. |

yeah, basically
the problem was that even if they had been able to do everything necessary for it to able to be legally distributed, it was made up of hundreds of shots from movies that were removed for being too gruesome. so, it was considered pornography in the u.s., i believe, and not legal for distribution anyway. i think there are three or so forms of it, and you could probably find them somewhere on the internet. |

i think the thing that gets me the most about this song is that little distant harmony on the 1st beat of every 2nd measure |

listen to the chorus...
"wasted views, that's all they see, Blue/hot blood, guilt, optic nerve" etc.
the video is a couple hundred clips taken from horror films that were edited out by censors
the samples from charles manson were taken from the documentary about him...i'm sure you can see where charles manson fits in with censorship |

i'm curious as to where you heard the phrase "United Schutzestaffle States of America" (especially since the internet translator i used translated "Schutzestaffle" into "Protection-graduate")
i always asumed it was a parody of the beatles' songtitle "back in the u.s.s.r.," combining u.s.s.r. and u.s.a. |

| Leæther Strip – Zyclon B Lyrics
|
i believe you may have misinterpreted this song quite a bit. i, first of all, would have to disagree with "To write a song such as this needs a helluva lot of sensitivity." the lyricism of leæther strip, and many other similar artists, is not sensitive by any means, for the simple fact that they are trying to provoke a large emotional response to the music. claus larsen, the single man behind leæther strip, has expressed that he does not agree with nazism, and i can thusly assume that he shares your contempt for the holocaust. however, he is portraying it in a light which will cause an emotional reaction within the listener, and it is there that i think you misjudged the song.
but i think this highlights another point: our current society is too quick to accurately judge anything that they may find remotely disagreeable. the fact that you condemned this song as sick, apparently without much thought given to the song itself as a whole, is one i find discouraging. yes, the language used is harsh and disconcerting, but the artist obviously felt it needed to be language of this intensity in order to convey the feelings he was trying to get across. had you maybe given more thought to his chosen songwriting, you would understand larsen's true meaning of this song. |
