I dunno, it doesn't seem to jive to me.
It seems like the guy, the "narrator",if you will, is depressed and getting down and thinking about death for the first time, and he doesn't want to be down any more, so he wants some happy pills. |

hmn, I think I liked this song better when I thought he was saying "I fuck up all the blah blah...." In fact, with most casualties songs (except Punk Rock Love) I liked them better before I knew the words. |

yes. well, even though the song is called "Officer" I don't think it's about cops. I think it's more about those sort of people in a scene who try to control everything. Op Ivy usually writes about scene unity and such, and it says "the *comparison* is obvious..." so I think it makes more sense that they aren't talking about an actual cop. |

Alcoholics Allways need a drink. Pretty sad, really. ..."Liquid bread for the poor, Another member of The Crowd goes down, to drown at the liquor store."

This is actually a cover of "Wrong Embryo" by the Rulers. The Clash changed the lyrics a bit though, and cranked up the tempo. man, ska is great, isn't it?

I always thought it was about the Spanish Civil War, but, what nationofone could make sense too.
Just FYI, in the U.S. people organized and funded civillian armies to go help the anarchists because the U.S. government wouldn't.

Its odd that no one has commented on this before, its obvious. It's about being in a band, and trying not to sell out. "Grabs the mike to tell us he'll die before he's sold" |
