| I think the issue with public schools is because they push a bunch of bullshit into your head, and you can't form your own damn opinion. And when you do, if it's different than the norm, then you get labeled. I've always hated the square pegs through a round hole approach. It's like this is the way it is, you have to CONFORM. Keep in mind Pink Floyd's superb "Another Brick in the Wall." Take the lines "We dont need no thought control." That's what public schooling is pretty much about... | |

This was the first Rage song I heard, possibly my favorite. It really woke me up. I actually learned about it in school with a really really cool teacher. We did a whole analysis of it - there are a lot of really interesting things we interpreted. "The needle, I'll thread" - think of a record player, you know, the needle, relating to music. Of course there's the obvious reference to Muhammad Ali (Cassius). Also J. Edgar Hoover, though some kids thought Hoover meant the vacuum cleaner. I just think it's a great song, and now I always associate it with the Matrix. Which also kicks ass. |
