This song reminds me of one of Dave's lyrics from Seek Up: "Everyday things change, but basically they stay the same." I think that this song is about the way all people go through seemingly significant changes in their lives, yet in the scheme of things, they are the same. |

I was irritated when I read peoples' interpretations of this song on nancies.org, some of them thought that Dave was sending a message about perversion among priests, that the "Father" Dave refers to was literally a priest. I don't think that Dave had any such intention. |
