The first verse is about the bad things in the world, and the second is about his perfect world that he and his girlfriend are in, and how good the rest of the world should be. He's wishing that the rest of the people in the world could be as happy and carefree as they are....it just kinda seems like he's telling the people what they're missing and maybe even inviting them to join him here: "if we can we will leave our letter and this song, for you we'll write, once a day and float it through the sea, to you we'll regret, all those things we thought of but didn't ever do" That's just how I see it. |

| This song makes me think of my mom so much. She's a 40 year old prostitute, who just doesn't want to get old. She has 5 kids and not a lot of money, and sometimes I worry about her ending up dead just like the girl in the song. The first time I heard this song, I was separated from my mom for about 6 months, because I moved in with my dad (I realized that was a mistake and moved back), and I just sat down and cried for my mama for hours. So this one really hits home, and I love it to pieces. The Stereophonics are one of those extremely talented bands that are really rare these days. | |
