Tylerdurdan...thanks for the explanation with what ghost man on third means, I dont know a thing about baseball, so I wouldnt know. As far tas the song lyrics go, it seems that the only person who can make any sense of this song is the person who wrote it. It is like that with a lot of songs, lyrics dont really match up to mean anthing significant. When I hear the song, I try to add up a few things, such as the title, being "Ghost Man on Third", it has the word ghost in it, and when hearing the song, i get a very haunting feeling, especially at the end, when the climax of the song comes, and everything is brought together, "This is what living like this does./.." over and over agian, and the girl is still singing softly in the background, and you can hear Adam screaming at the same time. That part gives me goosebumps, and the song makes me feel of ghosts, the screaming sounds like someone being tortured and the whole song if you think about it, is someone battling their own demons. It is all pretty confusing, but any one person can interpret the lyrics into any one meaning fitting to them. |

I heard that there were 2 teenage girls who were big Jimmy fans and ran some fan club and were killed in a car accident. If thats the case, God bless their souls. This song does obviously go to anyone who has passed away and you werent able to see them that last time, and what would you do if you had one more chacne to be with them. | I think he is very confused, very lost, and not knowing exactly how to feel. I dont know exactly what the situation is, its probably something about love, but it might just be a love that never was and could have been. I get the feeling it is love at firsrt sight. He is seeing this girl, waiting for her, and nothing ever happens, and he doesnt know what is happening, and he isnt questioning it, hes just waiting on the dirty stairs, but he is skeptical about this mystery girl, and he wants to leave and go somehwere that DOES make sense, he wants to be somewhere clean, and wholesome, but he is torn by these feelings at the same time. | |

I love this song so much. My aunt Paula in Phoenix, AZ is the person who got me listening to JEW. My mom died 2 years ago of cancer, and since then, ive been flying to AZ in the summer to visit my aunt, her promise to my mom before she died was that she would take care of me and my sister. I started listening to JEW last summer with my aunt, and I didnt really care for them at the time. When I came back home to CT, I missed her a lot. I heard about this song, and was reminded of AZ, because of Sky Harbor Airport, so I downloaded the song. Since then, I have become a JEW addict. "Goodbye Sky Harbor" holds so many different meanings to me. The first, is my relation to AZ and my aunt. Hearing the song makes me miss her, and makes me think of when my sister and I leave AZ every year, as the plane takes off and we look down upon AZ, not to see it until next year. I also think of my mom. Some other entries suggested a book "A Prayer for Owen Meaney" and, assuming that it is correct what others say, I can absolutely relate the song to someone dying. A very early entry about suicide and slitting wrists, was to me, very creative, but i dont think the song has to do with suicide, but jsut dying in general. The song is powerful and brings me to my own little world where i can be with my mom and my aunt. Thank you Jimmy Eat World. |
