I disagree with you guys. I dont' think that this song is about him hurting someone he loved, I think it's about someone he loved always blaming him, always putting him in a position to let her down. He doesn't want to be her winter, or her excuse to cry. I see the excuse part as very significant. If he really had hurt her, it wouldn' eb an excuse. I think he's regretful about the course of the relationship but he is kind of saying "screw you" to the one who keeps blaming him for things. He doesn't want to hurt her, but by continuing in the relationship, he will only be her "winter." |

See, i kind of think it's anti-drug. He keeps referring to cocaine as excapism from the daily pressures, big and small, in life. But then to say "she don't lie" is meaning that you can't excape the truth. You can't excape the reality of your problems. My ex did quite a lot of it, and at the end, he fit this song perfectly. Every little thing, the answer was COCAINE. Too bad it wasn't. |

This is an excellent song for after a breakup, there's no way around that. I love how it's at first all about her, and how she is trying to let it all go. It's not till the line "don't say that you've been thinking, cuz I know it's just the drinking" that you realize it's actually a conversation with her ex. That adds a whole new spin on the song. I listened to this song after I did call, write, and even show up at 3 am. He kept pulling me back and I kept running just as hard back to him, only to be cut off again. This song summed it all up and made me realize what an idiot i had been being and that we were better off without each other. |
