he's talking about going back and thinking of when he was younger. and even though they have nothing to show, they'll always have the memories.

i think this song has NOTHING to do with the police, cops, or anything like that. i think it's talking about a guy who's sits around alone while he watches a girl from afar. spending new years alone, no phone calls...just depressing times. and to pass the time, all he does is drink and smoke so he won't think about her. |
