I am surprised about how few people have wrote on Neil Diamond. He is one of the greatest songwriters ever!! This song means a lot to me right now....my gf dumped me to start school in California, and this is one of the only songs that comforts me anymore..I LOVE IT!! I feel the same exact way as the song describes. |

Sanitizers opinion actually makes sense...and that is really weird. But i doubt Rob Thomas had the in mind when he wrote it buddy. What an imagination of a sexually frustrated young man...or women..most of how you interpret songs come from the way you are felling at the time...sexual frustration seems to fuel your judgement. |

Sorry to disappoint you ..but the only copy of Loss Strain and Butterflies that you will ever find..is a bootleg, bad copy. It was Tabitha's Secret...and doubt Rob will want another law suite from the former band members like he had with 3 A.M. You & I & I i think they will only use as a concert "treat". But you can get bootlegs of pretty decent copies of it...the live from australia concert in '98?? Whenever it was...it is a really good copy. |

To me everyone can take this song their own way...i think rob wrote it that way..he never explained what the meaning is on storytellers, just that it was his fav on the new album ( mad season at the time ). My take on it is about analysing your life and where you at..compared to where you want to be..and thinking about the one you could never make love you...the one that got away so to speak. Everyone has the "one" that got away...mine moved to California to start her life, leaving me by myself. Also thinking about past relationships that you "wasted" so much energy on. |

I do beleive the first line is this..."Elvis is alive at your local grocery store"...and...."Lee Harvey Oswald well you know he acted alone"....man their are so many mistakes in the lyrics..."god was an astronaut, who said boy i like your face so the story began"..."the church of the almighty dollar is all we ...." But anyway..... I think that this song is about questioning what you hear...not believing the bullshit lies people tell. And looking in yourself to find the truth. It is like the old saying, "don't believe everything you hear"...find out for yourself. The chorus i think is rob trying to say believe what i say..it is a lie. |

| This is from Tabitha's Secret 1997 release of Don't Play With Matches...Try Ebay...Make sure it is the 1997 release and not the 2001 release.Tabitha's Secret had three members of MB20 in it..then broke apart and formed Matchbox Twenty with two new members. The 1997 release is out of print..and easy to find on ebay. | |

A world without religon...awwww....how nice. To me...that is worth fighting for. Considering religon is just a way of mind control, and history has proven religon to be the most proficient killers of all time. Imagine...how better people would be. They say that religon teaches peace and help for your fellow man...but history says otherwise..and history repeats itself. As far a Lennon wanting a communist worldwide government...who cares..communist ideals can never work because Marx didn't take into account human nature...greed and hate. But Lennon is saying...imagine no greed ( no pocessions ), and no hate ( countries and religon ). Communist might be able to work then...but never one time did he ever meantion communist in this song. Just kinda implies it. Their has never been or ever be a true communist country..the way Marx had it imagined. |
