Alright, maybe it's lame of me to delve too deep, but part of me thinks that it could be about Conor. They're obviously good friends who express their friendship in song ("yeah Tim I heard your album and it's better than good" about the Good Life album "Black Out"), and we all know that Conor's one to drink away whatever problem is going on. His friends used to try to help him, but it's not working, so Tim's saying that, as a friend, he has to get his act together. Especially the line "so write some sad song about me" makes me think that. But that's just me. |

I'm glad they progressed from Your Favorite Weapon. The songs got pretty stale after a while, but this I can listen to and not get sick of.
I think that the boy in the song really saw something in this girl, that he thought that she was the one, and the girl's just a sexual predator, and he was her prey. And he just wants to take it slow, he wants to take time to love this girl and get to know her, but she just swallows him whole. He's left in a daze for a long time, and he keeps thinking "what the hell have I let myself do? What's going to happen? What will the future be like now ("doomed to a life of lies and failed relationships")?" and no one comes to console him. |

I like how ironic the CD title is. Everyone said that YFW was something plain, that they've heard before. This is like a slap in the face to them, it's like "okay, we've progressed, have you already heard THIS??" and naturally, they probably have not.
At any rate, this is probably one of my favorite songs on the album. I think it's about someone who was just waiting for something to happen. She's just standing there, not paying attention to anything, even though it's "midnight in torrential downpour." Suddenly, she realizes that nothing's going to happen, that her head is pretty darn messed up if she's waiting for something, so she just gives up (the whole "take a picture from the wall..." thing). |

Cursive is the definition of amazing.
I think that it's yet another song dedicated to his ex-wife, talking about her new love interest, who ends up being a jerk. "Sometimes men can be so misleading, to take whatever they need from you." He's a jackass, a womanizer, who's just misleading her to "get some" and whatnot. He's not saying that he deserves her back, he's saying, "oh well, you got royally screwed." It's a slap in the face. |

It's definitely about gossip. "no government check can reverse it" means that too late, if you ever regret or get in trouble for it or lose a friend, too late. It's your fault that "you let the poison spill, spurt from your throat." |

Maybe it's just me delving too deep into songs, but part of me thinks that it could be about Conor. Both are obviously good friends, and there's been mention about the other in their songs ("yeah Tim I heard your album and it's better than good" about the Good Life album), and we know how frequently Conor is drunk. Especially the line "So write some sad song about me" makes me think it's about him. I don't know, my interpretation. |
