pretty obvious i think, this song on a surface level is about weed, sex, and being so high that you're hanging out on the plastic beach. |

this is an amazing song.
for me it talks about throwing all of your worries and your feelings about the future and about what people think about you.
just being who you really are and not giving a shit. allowing people to find to true beauty under your skin.
its lyrics touch on several other ideas but i have to go listen to it another 10 times before i go to bed!
thanks, p.o.s. |

were you at the Portland show? (at the Aladdin)...
anyway, I was there... it totally fucking kicked ass. both the elected and stars really brought it and yeah, this song rocks live. |

this is definitely about observing people that think they're super cool. I also see it as the perspective of someone who doesn't really fit in (depression, lonleyness). I like the Rose Parade connection because I live in Portland :D |

I like this song, but does anyone else hear that weird 'ringing' sound? It's really apparent at about 0:20... I don't like it. |

"either way, a great song. It's a good way to end the album, but I kept feeling like, when it builds at the end, that it was going to just explode into some dark, orchestrated bit, which would've been rad, but then it didn't..."
I expected the same thing, some sort of super crazy string and drum bit, maybe they'll add something like that down the road for an EP or special single--doubt it though. |

very great song... definitely reminds you of what love is like and makes you wish you had someone to sing the song to. (unless you do have someone to share the song with, that is.) this is definitely on my list of songs to possibly play at my wedding (my other top choice would be 'everlong' by the foo fighters) |

yeah, that's what he says on the dvd side of the album. he says it's about people in the south (where he's from, nashville, i believe) and how their parents pressure them when they're very young to get married. that was the inspiration.
not quite sure what the song means though... |

the guitar is so filling that it makes you forget that there aren't any lyrics for the last 3 and a half minutes of the song. this is a beautiful song. |

hagbard_celine: I agree, I think it's both in a sense, but more the sarcastic part... making fun of people who think they own the world. |

Rasputin007 I agree with you. I love to think of it as a big snowstorm and two people meeting in the middle all by themselves. No one else around. Very magical indeed.
I also enjoy the metaphor and agree with erolsabadosh |

i love the guitar in this song... it's so sad and sincere sounding. could be about not getting over an ex, but has lots of references to drinking... |

didn't actually hear it on the oc but i heard it on the oc mix 2 cd from my girlfriend... right now we're broken up... maybe get back together eventually, but i'm just hoping she'll show me something pretty.
this song is definitely about having a rough life but having/finding someone there for you that you love but maybe dont feel you deserve either. sounds at some points in the song it could be about his mom |

i went to a dennis deyoung concert just tonight, and this was the last song that he did. it was incredible.
before he sang the song he said 2 things about life:
1. find love, and for those who do, cherish it and hold on to it
2. winners: winners are losers. winners are losers who get back up, and try one more time.
then they did the song. i hope this helps someone figure out what the song means. i personally think its about achieving your goals/could be a love song too.
i love Styx :D |
