Lyrically speaking, this song is dead simple, but yet it says so much without having to say a whole lot at all ... the music is the cherry on top of this sundae. Layne had a way with words that still to this day shakes me when I hear him sing, his death has taught me to think my own life and to follow what's most important ... my friends and family.

Personally, I think this song is about us ... his fans. He's saying that he's unable to make it through this ordeal by himself and he needs us to comfort him.
This new Cold album will be real easy to relate to because Scooters' always been honest and up front with his feelings and what's been going on in his life. |

He's forgiven people, but in a sense also hopes karma comes back and messes with 'em. He also talks about how he was tormented and picked on when he was young.
I also think this song is also for us, his fans, he's wondering how we're making out and doing in our lives if we've been following him along the way, he's found help in his life though music and his personal expressions, and hopes that we are finding therapy in his music; a thank you song to his fans!
My personal note to Staind - Thanks, Aaron ... for being there for me, when others' didn't understand and care, you've helped me realize life is worth living no matter what curveballs life throws at us, if you survived though your ordeals then I certainly can. |

This song reminds me of me and my g/f, and how I'm so far away from her distance-wise. All the things we've done and fought for aren't in vain.
Also points out that whoever we've become and am today we shouldn't be ashamed of. This song is like Aaron is closing a few chapters which he had a really tough and rough time in his life, and he can finally forgive those who've hurt him and he's proud of who he's became. |

This is another kick in my butt, this song is SO GOOD, Reality and Blow Away are my favs off the album.
This song sounds like it's about someone he knows who's here, but not "really here" or with it ...like a body with no soul or is lifeless. "When your out of rope the way to climb back ups' unclear", that's a fact we all face, sometimes when we don't know what to do we place walls up, letting no one in and blocking everyone out; you shouldn't get caught up in other peoples' negative opinions about you, the only people you should listen to should be people close to you, like your family or close friends.
So whatever your "poison" is, drugs, alcohol, sex, etc, your stuck behind it, the Bridge in this song is soooo damn meaningful and speaks a lot to me. Don't get stuck in what your in, which points back to the Chorus ... listen to those who you trust and love |

Like the Chorus states, life isn't fair, nor plays fair, we each end up dealing with life ourselves, whatever we've been dealt (our hand), some people start our "more successful" so it seems, and no matter how hard we may work, some of us will never have a portion of what these people have "not everything in life is handed on a plate", and when people believe you it doesn't matter what you really do. Aaron's worked extensively hard to get to where he is, I guess you could call that the "I sold my soul 2 get here" then almost as a personal, direct question to us, asks us "How about you"? |

Sounds like friends I've had before ... we think we know them then they get up and go change, usually not for the better. The Chorus to me sounds like when they finally realize what they've done, and come back to you, after they've damaged you and want you to forgive them for their atonements.
"So now I ? what your gonna do" This block to me sounds like their up to their old ways again, when they were damaging you, but this time you've caught on to their games; karma remembers and so does life definately. |

This song reminds me of Epiphany, "I am nothing more the a little boy inside that cries out for attention, yet I always try to hide", this song sounds like it's about his childhood, and has continued well into his life, and is still plagued by it; like how he was robbed early in life from nurturing things, and they've followed him.
"Find a place to hide" "Say things just to disagree" "I'm only being me" He's describing in a sensitive, defense way that he's only being himself. |
