Ding ding ding! I think c0unt3rfeit got it. I was about to say something very similar. There's no way (aside from an explicit explanation by the writer) to know exactly what the song was written about. But I think this is the most logical inference. If you look closely and think about it, the theme is a cynical view that life becomes monotonous after a while. And the risks of making a change (going after hopes and dreams) aren't worth it because, well, change isn't desired (don't want to "grow up") and is a scary thing. So that's what I think. The song is about the game of life. But "that game" he is talking about...might refer to something different. That's where the song might become more personal. But as far as the casual listener is concerned, that's the closest thing to what the song is "about." Anyone vehemently disagree? |

I feel like the same thing is happening to me I hung out witha girl on new year's eve... we hit it off and were unseperable for the next 6 days then all of a sudden things changed....she couldn't committ, walked away, came back to me, i feel for her again, then she walked away again If you don’t don't know Why would you say so? Would you mean the Please if it happens? it seems like this song is about the guy wanting commitment and the girl not being sure. she doesn't want to let him go forever, so she strings him along even if she can't be perfect to him. So this girl might eventually let the relationship "happen", but the guy feels like she might agree to be in a relationship with him even if she isn't perfectly happy, and he doesn't want her to do that. |

| I think that this song is kind of like "Total Revenge" in the fact that there is a girl who does not seem to reciprocate his feelings. It seems that his treatening tone is a product of lost hope, that there isn't any way this girl would willingly be with him anymore. As for the last part of the song, maybe he got attached to this girl after they had sex while the sex was only casual for the girl. | |

This is a good song that I never heard until I picked up their best-of compilation. It's easy to explain the "as long as you're here with me now" part ..but what about the "as long as it matters" ? that's the title, after all. What is it that "matters"? What about the "mattering" does he take solace in? Who does is "matter" to - the guy or the girl?? |

"Gump" is better. And I mean this objectively an unbiased-ly. What tips the balance is the "ruuuuun" part in the bridge. That was a genious incorportation into the song. Also to add to that, Forrest GUmp was a great movie, and the lyrics to "Lump" seem kinda stupid or meaningsless. I'm sure they mean something though, and I should check it out on this site, but I'm sure nomatter what it is I'll still always enjoy "Gump" more. What does this mean?: "Does this Gump make lots of bread?" I'm sure it's an innuendo and, because of that, never asked anybody in fear of it being something bad or me looking stupid... |

| search "minicyn" on Google.com or Dictionary.com and both will ask you if you meant to type "minocyn" which is a shortening of minocycline or tetracycline, both antibiotic drugs. Both of those medications are sometimes given to (attempt to) treat acne. Unless I am greatly mistaken, Grohl was a sufferer of acne, and he might be referring to that. (A cyst is a more painful version of a pimple. Mollusks, a.k.a. snails, are slow. "The cysts and mollusks tend to barter" = the cysts stay around until they get traded away and are gone, but the trades are being performed with the molusks, so the cysts stay for a really long time and are ugly and painful and embarrassing.) | |

I would repudiate any thought of Mellon Collie being a day-to-night concept album. It just doesn't make sense. The first song is Tonight Tonight, not Morning Morning. And Pyrrhic, if you do ever come back to this website again, I would like to let you know I think you are an idiot, and so are the other people who thought your idea was clever, because it's not.
