Not that this will matter or make sense to anyone, however: In my humblest of opinions kurt made a mistake by looking for someing true in this world and spent his life overcompensating for this mistake... better than most could do, really. The bridge is the bridge from the beginning of time to the end, (the symbol is recuring in the collective subconscious ) The tarp is trying to keep out the rain... (Reign of god? naawwww of course not) under the tarp, under the bridge, hiding from the forces that seek to control him. But it's leaky, can't seem to avoid the reign... er rain. What if all living things are god? What if the knowledge of good and evil is a lie god told himself to think he was someone other than himself to blame? It'd kinda be hard to eat the animals you trapped for food if you looked into thier eyes and knew that they were you. (of course you'de have to be pretty stoned to think that) best to be friendly with them. speaking of living off of grass, he was stonned when he wrote this song. and the dripping from the ceiling are of course the reigns that gets in through the cracks no matter how much you try to hide...
