| Rachael Yamagata – Accident Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Part of this song makes me think about celebrities, tabloid coverage, the paparazzi - how the media publicizes the personal lives of celebrities. And also just about public fascination with celebrities, and how we "normal" people will talk about their personalities, their lives, as if we have any idea who they really are. | |
| Rachael Yamagata – Be Be Your Love Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
"bethiebeee6 08-29-2008 when she says "please, sir, don't you walk away". it makes me think of someone in a higher position then her such as her boss,a teacher or professer etc.so the affiar she has is forbidden and everyone tells her she cnt carry it on but she wnts to be his love :(" i've always thought that too, whenever i hear the "sir" part. then, as you said, it gives the song a new dimension... not just about an unrequited love, or a love for someone unsuitable, but specifically because the relationship she is seeking is controversial, and she can't be with him. |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Men_Behind_the_Wire#Use_by_Dido http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1092551/Thoughtless-Dido-criticised-IRA-rebel-song-new-album.html This in particular makes me wonder now if the other person in the song is supposed to be her father: "Dido’s new album is said to have been inspired in part by the death in 2006 of her father William O’Malley Armstrong, a publishing executive." As always on SongMeanings, all down to individual interpretation though! |

| This is a beautiful song, and it also struck me as really sad. Any alternate interpretations? The reference to tanks and rebel songs made me think of a more troubled setting... | |
| Meredith Brooks – Bitch Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I always thought she was singing to a guy and telling him to accept her as she was, bitchy or loving, swinging from mood to mood, and not expect her to be sweet all the time, as might be expected of females... | |
| Darren Hayes – Popular Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| One really wouldn't have taken this song seriously, at face value anyway. =) Regarding the music, I WAS surprised to hear Darren singing this kind of music, but I guess the fact that I expected something else was what he meant by being bored with his persona and being painted into one "corner of musical direction". ^^ | |
| Darren Hayes – Unlovable Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This is song is very bitter. I know it's obvious from the lyrics, but i strikes you even more so when you hear the song. | |
| Darren Hayes – Insatiable Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I was not an immediate fan of Darren's solo singles, and I admit that I still prefer the SG songs than Darren's. But this song, although musically VERY different from Savage Garden, has "Darren Hayes" written all over the lyrics, as does many of his other songs (though I don't have any of his albums), and I still think he has a great way with words. =) This song, I have heard a radio DJ describe it to rule over so many other love songs that claim to be love songs, and if you listen to this you really can't help but agree with that. =) For the record, I don't find it shocking that he wrote a song like this (if the sexiness of "Insatiable" was what made new listeners judge him by), not after hearing "Universe". ;D (Though yes, this one really gets down to the details) |

| Savage Garden – Magical Kisses Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I should probably do research on this, but as I understand it this was one of SG's demo songs? As you might notice, the verses are actually the same as those in "Truly Madly Deeply", but the chorus is different. | |
| Savage Garden – Truly Madly Deeply Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
This was my "conversion" song - because of it I became a Savage Garden fan. =) I still find it very special for that reason, plus I cannot help singing along to it when I hear it. It's the sweetest song Savage Garden did. I don't think Savage Garden is sugar-coated (though this song might be, but I like the vision of love portrayed here). Some of the songs are actually a bit dark and bitter - though what do I know, but I can tell you it's not all sugar. I just think Darren is rather lyrical in his choice of words. |

| Gwen Stefani – The Real Thing Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I read the lyrics before I heard the song, and before and after I still find them very sweet. =) | |
| Gwen Stefani – Long Way to Go Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
You can tell that she meant Martin Luther King Jr because of the last lines in the song (tho they don't sound very clear). They come from his famous speech "I Have A Dream" in 1963 (if you haven't heard of it go and read or listen to it now! and I'm not even American XP) and I think they might have used sound clips from it, it sounds very like his actual speech (or from what I've heard from audio on the Internet). What does the line "upgrade computer" actually mean? The opening of the song DOES sound like some kind of robot or computer speaking, but I feel more like it was thrown in just to rhyme with "Luther". Everytime I hear the song it always feels out of place. |

| Savage Garden – The Lover After Me Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This is a beautiful song, both lyrically and musically wise. | |
| Savage Garden – Memories Are Designed To Fade Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
"But memories fade Yeah they're designed that way" Those lyrics stand out on their own. Not that they aren't awesome here. But I could sing those two lines on their own and they wouldn't have to relate to the rest of the song... I love the first verse as well. But I'm not sure why. ^^;; I find it odd that the 'other' person is a woman and not a man. It raises questions in my head and they're not what you're thinking. XP |

| Agreeing with TasChiBandGirl. This is such a sweet, sweet song... | |
