| Dave Matthews Band – Ain't It Funny How Time Slips Away? Lyrics

I was listening to Willie Nelson before I was born and have been a fan ever since. More recently I became a huge DMB fan. I thought it was cool that Dave became the fourth board member for Willie's charity organization, Farm Aid (along with Neil Young and Jon Mellencamp), and the only one added since it was founded in 1985. And it's even cooler that the two are good friends. I love Dave's take on this song. He shares Willie's ability to take someone else's tune and make it his own. I honestly think that anyone who is a fan of Dave's music would love Willie as well. They share many common attributes. This is a special cover. |

I'm a big Dave fan but find Satelite to be one of his worst songs. The song is all about...well...a satelite. There's not even a metaphor in the song, it's just about a satelite. After Her, however, while it isn't award-winning poetry, is a completely superior effort dealing with love and senseless devotion. The only good part of Satelite is the refrain lifted directly from the lyrics of this song. Oh well, we still have the old studio demos to live by. |

I signed up just to comment on this song. It kills me that he changed this from a dark song of torturous depth into one that is trite and meaningless for Busted Stuff. It seems to me that this song is about the contemplation of suicide: "I am the captain...there's a mutiny brewing inside of me." To me, this is THE song Dave is thinking of when he says the material of this album was too dark for release. The Lillywhite version is so hauntingly frightening that I damn near cry every time I hear it. |
