Portishead – Elysium Lyrics 22 years ago
I just looked up "Elysium" in the dictionary...here's what it said: the abode of the blessed after death in classical mythology

I want to understand the line "Your feathered sacred self" but my feeling about the song as a whole is that she is leaving a relationship. It's time. He doesn't want her to go so she asks "if you felt as I, would you betray yourself" and stay? He can't make her love him anymore and he can't make her stay...that's just my feeling...I don't know.

Portishead – All Mine Lyrics 22 years ago
scary or incredibly romantic. It can be about the initial obsession you get in fresh relationships. Not necessarily a "stalker" per say but what about the overwhelming feelings you get when you first start to date someone and you want to call them everyday and all the time. You always want to be around them and you want to be with them forever. It passes eveutally but in that moment you share characteristics of a stalker...what do you think?

Portishead – Roads Lyrics 22 years ago
Actually (and I'm pretty sure that this is the accurate meaning) I think the song is about that moment in your life when you suddenly realize life isn't peaches and cream like you were told all your life. Usually around 18-22 years old, your quarter-life crisis. You struggle to adpat to the adult world and find yourself and find your way in life, this can include spirituality. Sturggle to be a good person and struggle to cope with the world's woes.......etc.

Portishead – Over Lyrics 22 years ago
I've been there. Too many times....Incredibly intense song. Great video!! Simple and yet such an accurate visual of the emotions expressed. Gives me chills.

Lyrics are incorrect though:
I can't hold this state,
Anymore,
Understand me,
Anymore.

To tread this fantasy, openly,
What have I done.
Oh, this uncertainty,
Is taking me over.

I can't mould this stage,
Anymore,
Recognize me,
Anymore.

To tread this fantasy, openly,
What have I done.

Oh, this uncertainty,
Is taking me over,
Is taking me over.

To tread this fantasy, openly,
What have I done.

Oh, this uncertainty
Is taking me over,
Is taking me over,
Is taking me over.

Oh It's all over, yeah,
Oh It's all over, yeah, oh oh oh.

Radiohead – Pyramid Song Lyrics 22 years ago
Stoner, there is no Part II to Street Spirit...that song is the end all be all, literally. Thom doesn't even like to play it or claim it as his song. I think that is exactly the point, it's the deepest depths of despair....there can't be a sequel to something like that.

Radiohead – Street Spirit (Fade Out) Lyrics 22 years ago
For those of you who think this song is about anything other than the Devil himself, do a little research. Thom has come outright and said exactly what it was about. He disavows having written the song himself and claims he was just a tool to do so. They only play it at the end of the concert because it is just so draining for him to play. Although, I have to say I am a little surprised it's so depressing because I felt that the last two lines gave some hope...or at least some comfort to the song and to life. Head the word, immerse your soul in love!! It's all we have people!!

I have extremely mixed feelings about this song. It is incredibly intense and emotional. At the same time, melodic and flowing. It hurts me to hear it but I play it all the time. Some songs you can feel in your bones and they just strike you as though you were just hit...this is defintiely one of those songs!!

Radiohead – Sail to the Moon. (Brush the Cobwebs Out of the Sky.) Lyrics 22 years ago
Actually, as "dreamy" as Street Spirit may sound, it is really an evil song about death and how it's suffocating because you cannot get away from it. It will happen to everyone. I read a quote where Thom claims he did not write the song but rather he was the tool for writing it. He hates to play it and believes that the audience is far too detached or simply does not understand what it really means. Otherwise, no one would be able to sit there and sing it with him with such vigor...while smiling no less.
