| Something Corporate – Straw Dog Lyrics

One thing i do know about a "straw dog" if it is referenced to most other things made out of straw is that it refers to something being proverbialy worthless. see if you think that goes along with the song? |

good call, nor-cal. i'll have to say, for one, that i'm a christian. secondly, i go to bars with friends, especially when i'm down and out sometimes. just because i haven't taken a girl home doesn't mean that i can't relate to the song. maybe the songs represents high hopes and expectations, and then having to settle with what is there in your life, what you have to work with around you. but then again, maybe i'm wrong. |

i think this song comes down to you making things happen in your life, and not so much waiting for things happen to you. |

It's about a guy who had all of these girls that he really liked, (maybe even loved.) he has screwed them all up in some way, probably because of his fear of commitment. |

To be honest, i think this song is about a girl that he sees as too good for him, or she sees it that way. he wants elevatated to HER level of choice, and she is so in tune. also, she thinks he drinks too much. she hurts by not being with him, doing things that hurt him so much they hurt him. finally, when he can take no more from her, she wants him, and he is no longer interested. |

it's about wanting to be with a girl until you finally get her, and find out what she is really all about. once he had her, he had, "known all along." he may have even known it the whole time, and she was just really hot. none the less, he had came to his senses and to a consensus. |

the song has absolutly nothing to do with a girl, in fact he states it when he says, "it's not about you as i said now." Melis was right about saying it is about hating the routine, the same crap he has to do day in and day out. more precisly, the song was actually written after they thought they were done with their album originally, but the label wanted different songs...this is what came out of that frustration. |
