The Beatles – Let It Be Lyrics 21 years ago
For those arguing about "Mother Mary" being either his mom or the virgin, I think its a pun. I nicely done one, too :) Anyway, I think this song is about finding the light in the darkness. Yep :) It can help you let it be XD

The Beatles – Paperback Writer Lyrics 21 years ago
This song is obvious...Its about a guy who wants a break as a paperback writer XD Who WOULDN'T want a break as one? I mean, come on! Great song...One of the funnest songs I know XP

AFI – Girl's Not Grey Lyrics 21 years ago
I'm not going to talk about the meaning of this song, but I remember reading in other songs that someone was trying to connect all the songs of AFI in some way. Well, remember the thing about silver/grey being about past relationships and such ya'll figured out in silver and cold and the celuloid dream? I'm guessing this song might have SOMETHING to do with love, considering that connection. I dunno...This song really boggles my mind with it's meaning @_@ I just have to say about this song, it is beautiful and Davey's vocals are astounding.

AFI – The Days Of The Phoenix Lyrics 21 years ago
I'm not going to read through 78 comments @_@, so if this has been posted already, go ahead and kill me. I read from something that the "Phoenix" was a theater they used to play. I think I read some of these posts anyway, and someone said they are talking about their old days. This makes a lot of sense.

The whole "I remember when" verse is the only part that doesn't really fit. Hmm..Anyway, the "circle of rage" was like the mosh pits and all, "ghost on the stage" (I'm guessing when they sing, it is as if they are at the Phoenix in the present time) is like a memory of himself or whatever. No one seems to see that, at least from the things I've read. He doesn't mean it in a depressing way, really (of course, a less morbid way to put it is "spirit" or something, but ghost sounds better), he's just using it to refer to a memory. :P Get it? Anyway..."No one could see me" isn't saying that he's invisible and no one cares, but more like nobody but the people there care, or he's lost in his own world. Yep.

The chorus, the first part "I fell in to yesterday" (like I said earlier, I think in the song their visitng the present Phoenix) is Davey visualizing the past. "Our dreams seemed not far away" is him remembering how they were, how they were dreaming of being great and all that stuff. "I fell in to fantasy" isn't the same as the "I fell in to yesterday" because in "fantasy" he's talking about his performances.... The interlude where he talks is "the girl on the wall" could refer to his girlfriend or someone along those lines that would always watch him and be there for him. "Teenage death kids" are all the people partying and how they were in their own little world and having the time of their lives.

I hope that made sense ^^;

AFI – Morningstar Lyrics 21 years ago
I don't think this is religious. I'm sure it could be, but it doesn't seem so. I always thought of the Morning Star as the rising sun XD Anyway, I think it is, like someone else said, about someone who wants support or something. That, or the fame thing. The "I don't want to die tonight" is like "I don't want our band to sell out (die) and lose its soul" or something like that. I like it. The "Ghost upon the stage" I think refers to a memory. The star under the stairs is like how they are, semi-famous, and how they shine..erm..yeah. The light is the fame and how they don't want to get lost in a field of stars because they'll just be like everyone else. Yeah..The ghost is how they were...yeeeeeeeeeah. I think that makes sense...

Weezer – In The Garage Lyrics 21 years ago
Good song just mentioning the goodness and simpleness of playing music in your garage, not a care in the world, living in your own little world...

AND HE MENTIONED NIGHTCRAWLER (MY FAVORITE X-MAN)!!!! Why WOULDN'T this song rock? I mean, damn.

Eminem – Sing For The Moment Lyrics 21 years ago
I could care less about what the actual lyrics, because I can tell you what the song is about. Its about how kids today are idolizing rappers and how they shouldn't do that because rappers aren't exactly the right people to idolize because of what some do (shooting and all that). Eminem has a good point because fans like that think they are being cool, but they really aren't. I hope I got that right. I'm not a huge eminem fan, but he's one of the few good rappers out there because he isn't rapping about "da booty" 90% of the time. Even my FATHER (who HATES rap to death) likes this song, so that tells you a lot. Like someone mentioned, its not about just pissing people off, its about saying its his fans who do all that shit...Gah, just ignore this, I make no sense >.<

Jimmy Eat World – A Praise Chorus Lyrics 21 years ago
Davey is a singer from AFI XD I doubt that is who Jimmy's singing about, but blah, I just wanted to mention it

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaenyway. I think this song is about seizing the moment and not letting life pass you by. Also, it could be about being a part of a wonderful thing like music and just loving it, or it could be about falling in love. Either or, they all make sense because it can mean so much. I think its all at once. Like, live your life while you can, fall in love with someone, and have the music to help ya through. I 'm loving all the music references, too! ^_^ JEW is the best!

Vanessa Carlton – A Thousand Miles Lyrics 21 years ago
Love. Of course, this song's about love! Love of a friend, love of a family member, love a lover, whatever! Its about caring so much, you'd sacrifice it all. It also makes the narrator seem pretty modest about it because they are kind of low on confidence when she asks what he thinks of her and how she thinks she doesn't deserve to be thought of by him, but its all sweet. Gah, I love this song! I introduced me to the wonder that is Nesa! ^_^ The piano is just awesome (I have the music book...This is the only song I'm really scared to play because it seems so hard ;_;, lol). Good, meaningful (however sometimes cliche), song. Not her best, but a good starter offer. I assure you, those who think lowly of this song, download some other tracks of hers (stray away from "Pretty Baby, though..that one's REALLY pop-ish)...I bet you, you'll find those far deeper and way stronger than this one. This is a cute song. Not her best, like I said, but good none-the-less.

Vanessa Carlton – Ordinary Day Lyrics 21 years ago
I think this is about going in to fantasy for a while, but realizing you've gotta live life in the short time you've got. Like someone said, its not about the party, its about the love ;) I appaul the video. If it were just one couple, meeting, like the song/story said, then it'd be better because it'd have a cute plot to match. But no. Who directed this video? Geez.

Anyway, enough with my rant. I think that it is about meeting someone who shows you that you shouldn't take things for granted, and look at life a different way (similar to twilight) to realize its true beauty and how it can be gone in an instance. Its about apreciating life. This song, to me, is very spiritual on life. The boy, lookingi to the sky, represents looking at the simple things (clouds) and seeing them as great things (heavens). This person the narrator meets seems to know how to live life right, and the "dreams lie in the palm of your hand" is on seeing that impossible things you wish to achieve can really just be in your grasp!

Wow...That made me think...I never really thought of the song that way until I thought about it now XD I really like my view on this song, now. Now, I think I know what it is about :)

Vanessa Carlton – More Than Wanted Lyrics 21 years ago
This song is about the person she's singing to not really apreciating her. What makes me laugh is the "You don't really hear what I say" because that is true with so many musicians on how posuers and such don't even listen to the lyrics to understand the song's meaning (such with Anti-Flag's "Captain Anarchy" heheheh...You might THINK its an anthem about the joys of no government, but...well, I won't spoil it for those of you who haven't heard it). Anyway, this is about being better than what they think. She could, for all we know, be talking to us, the fans. Who knows. Anyway, I really love how powerful this song is. It really speaks to me and gives me that sense of power of "Hey, I AM good!". Its a very good uplifting song to raise your self-esteem. Awesome song, with the BEST piano in the album, I think. Stupendis. Very mad, and very good to raise your self-image. You can see that you ARE good, even if they can't see it because they are full of shit and are shallow. Whoo! Another hit from Nessa! (this song shouldn't have a video, but if it did, only her performance would sufice)

Vanessa Carlton – Pretty Baby Lyrics 21 years ago
I think this song is about someone who is hopelessly in love with someone who doesn't give a damn. But the narrator doesn't see this! She seems to realize that he probably doesn't really love her later in the song. Maybe she's liked this person before, but it didn't work out (makes sense of the "would you break it apart, *AGAIN*"), but she still wants him. I dunno. I agree with this being one of her weaker songs, but its good in its own way (my favorite part is that interlude...her interludes are so cool).

Vanessa Carlton – Unsung Lyrics 21 years ago
I kinda always thought this was about a one-sided (not sure if thats the proper term for it, but read on to see what I mean) relationship, where the person she's singing about is the only person to get any say in anything. Like, she's just there and is his puppet or something. Heheh, I like this song. I especially like the "Love burns, it burns" thing, because in the song she's saying that I'm not really in love after all, he's just using me or something along those lines, and I never say anything to stop it. Like, her words are unspoken because she might be afraid of what to tell him because it might make him leave her or something--I don't know! ^^; All I know is, this is her best fast-paced song :D Well, no, I like a lot of her songs XD

A liar! A liar the guy talked about in this song is! She is fooled and decieved by his charm and such, but that leads for her trouble because he breaks his promises and doesn't really care about her....I think this is the perfect theme song for Tom Riddle from Ginny Weasly of Harry Potter XD .......But thats just me ;) This song is pwetty, btw :P

Vanessa Carlton – Red Ditty Lyrics 21 years ago
This song is very fun and such. It has a little up-beat feeling to it, though we all know its about a girl who is sick of her controlling partner :P Its basically saying "Hey, I'm sick of this, I'm getting out, whether or not you care" ^_^ This song gives me a very "Girl powah!" feeling, lol.

Vanessa Carlton – Paradise Lyrics 21 years ago
I think this song is about making the wrong decision. Although, the suicide note makes this song only more dramatic (I love it ;) ). Anyway, to my point, "she saw herself give in" its about giving up on trying and just basically doing the wrong thing (because it was easy? at the time?). When she "closed her eyes, she saw what could have been" could be about imagining what could have happened if she didn't give up the fight (whatever it was for). I think its about someone who married(or whatever) someone for wealth, though they didn't really love them, and that person ends up being abusive to them or something. The "what could have been" was her other choice for a lover. Yep. The "darkness" is the life she now leads, the "soothing lies" help her go on, though she knows that its not true. "All she want and needs are reasons to survive" prayers, and such hope, faith, "a day in which the sun will take her artificial light" like Silentwitness said, the sun symbolizes a way to break from the lies to a truely good reality. As it has also been say, "Don't hold it in, let it out" thing is Nessa telling this person to stop masking her real feelings and pretending like its okay. Yep.

I really like this song, its very good :D Its got a good message about not always chosing what will make you look better, but what you will like better. I think. But that's just MHO. ^_^ Vanessa Rocks! (for some reason, this song, I think, should be covered by AFI o_O Don't ask me why...I'm weird.)

Vanessa Carlton – Twilight Lyrics 21 years ago
Nessa is saying here that she was trapped in a lie or something along those lines, not knowing who she really was. Then, she met someone that, well, taught her how to live. She realizes she's been looking at life in the wrong way. She will never live the same way now that she's learned this, and she will be better because of it.

This song HAS to be my favorite from the whole album. It's just SO strong. The music is too beautiful for words (when I first heard a download of it, I fell in love with the piano, but the orchestra's performance was stunning). This song is definetly about starting over and such. Fantastic, deep, and moving (when my friend first heard it, she cried at its beauty). I love this song so much, I performed it for our talent show last year XD Yep :) Great song, with a good moral and meaning.

Vanessa Carlton – Paint It Black (Rolling Stones cover) Lyrics 21 years ago
This is one of the finest covers I've ever heard. Most covers are lame, but she did a superb job in re-creating the Stones' classic. It is one of my favorites ^_^ I wish they'd make a video for this one :X

Vanessa Carlton – Rinse Lyrics 21 years ago
This is definetly about a girl in an abusive/shitty relationship. What else could it be? What Nessa's saying is the girl's gotta realize he DOESN'T love her, she needs to find a true happiness and learn what life is really about. A beautiful, beautiful song, one of my favorite on the album. Very powerful.
