| Bush – Jesus Online Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
I'd venture this interpretation of the song: It sorta strikes me as decrying our commercial society... sorta an anti-yuppie thing. If you replace the word "she" with the basic concept of our modern producer/consumerist society, you can get a better understand of what I mean. It's basically saying you're married to your job exobrably. I especially like the refrain: Jesus online Wires around the world Feel invincible Computer car and girl "Jesus Online" I interpret to be the casual disregard for religion that alot of yuppies have. It's somewhat like that now they have all these material possessions and modern technology (computer car and girl) they feel "invincible", like they don't need a God, they're their own personal God. Don't pidgeonhole me as one of the conservative religious types, longing for the good old days when all you needed was the Chruch to keep the peons in line, this is just how I see the song objectively. |

| Strike Anywhere – S. S. T. ( Sic Semper Tyrannis ) Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| John Wilkes Booth also yelled "Sic Semper Tyrannis" when he assassinated Lincoln. | |
| System of a Down – Shame on a Nigga (Wu-Tang Clan cover) Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Yeah, I know System isn't Anglo-Saxon white, but isn't it slanderous to use "nigga"? I'm going to leave all the moral stickiness to a bad re-run of "Boston Public", personally I'm white so I really don't give a shit, any black people take offense? | |
| System of a Down – Don't Go Wandering Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Yeah I don't know why Serj was limpin' with the Bizkit... oh well. Also watch out for "Kill Me Now"... some moron titled it as a System of a Down unreleased bootleg... I think its Fred Durst and Orgy. It's pretty whiney and not worth the download, not to mention completely unreleated to System of a Down. | |
| A Perfect Circle – 3 Libras Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Just adding my 2 cents worth, it's probably been said a dozen times already. I think this song is about a girl, probably one that went through a lot of guys (not necessarily sexually, i didn't realy see much of a sexual connotation like that prositute interpretation... very original though) and he might have had a brief relationship with this really desirable woman... it was just "Down among a million the same" to her but it meant alot more to him. I didn't really get the "eyes of a fallen angel, eyes of a tragedy" part personally... I assumed it was just sort of an example to exhibit how much Maynard made of everything, how dramatic and terrible it as for him, and then the "oh well, apparently nothing, apparently nothing at all" (my favorite lines) was just sort of his realization that what he and the woman shared wasn't anything near for her what it was to him. I had something exactly alot like this so I guess that's why I percieve the song that way. Otherwise I'd have to say I favor the "God" interpretation above. | |
| KoЯn – Helmet In The Bush Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Helmet in the bush... doesn't really sound sexual to me at all, sort of conjures up images of like a dead soldier, you know, helmet sorta laying there... or maybe on the butt of a rifle stuck in the ground to represent a grave... Just me though. | |
| New Found Glory – My Friends Over You Lyrics | 23 years ago |

Personally, you all talk about punk bands selling out.. just my opinion, but punk sold out like 10 years ago... do any of you listen to punk from 80's? Stuff like Dead Kennedys and Minor Threat really seem alot better than what punk it today. Granted, the quality of the audio is scratchy and everything, but the music is more political than the pop-rock punk is today. Don't get me wrong, I listen to NFG, Lit, Green Day, Blink182 and all of them... but I get more out of the "old school" stuff myself. My favorite band of all time is Atari Teenage Riot, dunno if any of you guys would have heard of them, they play sorta 80's punk/ 80's electronica music. Anyways, don't think I'm some middle aged midlife-crisis dude that grows his hair long and drives a sports car.. most of the music I like was made before I was born, and I didn't start listening to it until recently... just my 2 cents worth. pe@ze out |

| Dead Kennedys – Moral Majority Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| Brilliant political and social commentary by Jello Biafro and the Dead Kenenedys. This is basically centered around the Moral Majority (back in the eighties), a Christian organization that pushed its political agenda through a number of mediums, including televangelism. | |
| Atari Teenage Riot – Your Uniform (Does Not Impress Me!) Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| This ong is seriously hardcore, for lack of a better word. Hanin's lyrics come in at just the right time.. it's just awsome. This song might be the industrial equivilent to NWA's "Fuck tha Police" | |
| Rage Against the Machine – Ashes in the Fall Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
This is probably my favorite Rage song ever. The metaphors and imagry Zack uses are exremely powerful. Just some more analyzing: "Like swollen stomachs In Appalachia" Applachia being the poorest area of the United States, located in the general area of the mountains in name. Trust me, I've been there... if you've ever wondered where cars from thirty years ago and old school busses go to die, its in the front yards of Appalachia. "Like the priests that fuck you As they whisper holy things" This is probably supposed to just mean mislead or at worst betray, this song was written before the whole widespread accusations of Catholic priests for molesting members of their parishes. Makes it more poingent after all that though. "A mass of tears have transformed to stones now Sharpened on suffering Woven into slings Hope lies in the rubble of this rich fortress Taking today what tomorrow never brings " This is pretty straightforward, and probably my favorite part of the song. Just saying that the pain and suffering have caused a revolution. |
