this song is almost word for word what I felt about my ex in the few months after we broke up...I even wrote her a long letter explaining how I felt and what do you know, the first line is right on point. And to think I've been searching a long time for a song in my collection with lyrics to explain how I felt...booyakasha! |

| Chevelle – The Fad Lyrics

umm yeah, these lyrics are wrong...I tried to submit the real ones but I guess they havnt been approved...here they are, straight from the CD insert:
Soon the men taste their own,
Normalcy ends that day consumed by all,
Irrational thoughts depend then shape their tastes.
Let’s call it change x2
Once the fad permeates, it’s hip to care, hip to hate it x2
Laugh at the violence x2
True to form,
He’s blind as his taste for cheap panther piss,
He loves to live beyond the card,
So count us in to that Gucci clan…the fat face.
Let’s call it the chase, I’ll call it a phase
Once the fad permeates, it’s hip to care, hip to hate it x2
Laugh at the violence x4
So sell your voodoo,
And recognize this,
Your last and only score,
Got you hung up on your strut.
Once the fad permeates, it’s hip to care, hip to hate it x2
Once the fad (The same) You want it (I bought it) x4
Laugh at the violence x2 |

souljamike is close...in an interview last July, P-NUT (the bassist, said that the song is about how Nick, the lead singer, felt ashamed of himself for his lyrics in a song from the previous album entitled "DLMD" or Don't Let Me Down which tells the talks about his mother's bad situation with men who didn't treat her right. Nick felt he approached it wrong with the song and that he was stooping to the level of those bad men instead of staying positive which is what the 311 vibe is supposed to portray. |

Good views so far, this song is very powerful as well as musically brilliant...does anyone know if any of the members of Jars of Clay are singng about a personal experience in this song? There is a good song called "Getting Through To Her" by 311 that is like a secular version of this song about child sexual abuse except the viewpoint is from someone else and not the child...both songs are beautiful yet sad at the same time. |

such simple lyrics yet pure genius...Phil is basically giving advice as to not follow the wrong crowd just because many sinners are telling you to go that way since they are living that way...go where there are brilliant colors and endless flowers a.k.a. the kingdom of heaven...dont live in the dead world of sin (with the "wilted flowers"). Music-wise it is mesmerizing...I love when Phil extends a song with brilliant rhythm and harmony |

| Chevelle – Send The Pain Below Lyrics
|
After reading the previous posts, let’s get a few things straight:
1) Chevelle is NOT a Christian band, the rumor started because of the fact that their first label who signed them also had previously signed Christian artists...Chevelle made this clear in some interview which you can find on the web somewhere.
2) Chevelle did NOT rip this song off of Deftones - “Be Quiet and Drive”, yeah the songs sound a bit alike but not really. The fact is that Deftones is an older Chevelle and Chevelle is a younger Deftones. They both have tremendous talent and I am a big fan of both with much respect, I have never confused the two with similar sounds because they both have a distinct style that you would know if you were a big enough fan.
3) The video is a bit farfetched but it does make sense if you think about it. The guy in the video is obviously in a bad relationship that is affecting the rest of his life and causing failure (cue the disturbing snowboarding wipeouts), then you see him walk out of the bar where his girlfriend is, showing that he is finally letting go of her...and whadaya know, he sticks the landing. That’s a brief synopsis of how the video relates to the song, but there is a lot more symbolism within the video itself.
As for the songs meaning, the dude’s was in a bad relationship because all of the little things that went wrong and caused him emotional pain would be pushed away and tried to be forgotten. After multiple rebounds and swaying emotion, that forgotten pain had resurfaced in such magnitude that he can’t even breathe anymore. Holding on to the girl was the reason why the pain had not totally been forgotten, but now he has let go entirely and sent the pain below to a new low that can not be rekindled to resurface.
There you have it...so don’t leave a response that reflects negatively of Chevelle, because they are brilliant writers with intense and true emotion... |

| 311 – Getting Through To Her Lyrics

I agree, there are quite a few tracks from DTOM that could be/are relating to unstable female problems, and most of them could be seen from a female's standpoint of a struggling male. Either way, this is one sick album and I don't know why everyone is criticizing it because it's not raw and edgy like the blue album and such. This album has so much music talent on it it's rediculously amazing. It's hard to understand what someone who has been sexually abused as a child is going through, as with other touchy subjects like aids or abuse in general, but SA does a good job at giving an inside perspective. I mean, what can you say to make the pain go away from someone with such a permanent scar for life? The whole "life is not TV" line is perfect, there's all these after-school specials and dramas on TV where the "man with dirty deeds" is finished off for a happy ending, but that never happens in this day and age... |

| Kanye West – Diamonds from Sierra Leone Lyrics

what a bunch of haters, except for a handful on here...Kanye is probably the most brilliant pioneer for his kind of music. I say music and not rap because he actually writes music for his songs and doesn't add supid sound effects just for the hell of it like the rest of the unoriginal "rappers" out now. His lyrics have meaning and aren't just about doin hos and makin money, but where that money is really comin from. Plus, his lyrics are hilarious "Then your fat friend her nickname is minivan..." hahahahaha |

| Beck – Earthquake Weather Lyrics
|
It seems like he's yelling at those who try to blend in the crowd with the worldly trends these days. "Driving through a desert looking for a life to call our own" sort of means that he's been trying to find purpose in life but everything looks the same, as a desert does. The other part of the song,
"I push I pull the days go slow
into a void we filled with death
and noise that laughs falls off their
maps all cured of pain and doubts
in your little brain"
...is talking about how he works hard day and night until someday we all die, while others laugh away life because they dont have to work and are closed minded without a worry.
This is an awesome song, sounds like Sneaker Pimps or Zero 7 helped with it or will make a remix of it. |

try playing the bass line with your left hand and the opening guitar rift with your right on the piano, takes a while to learn it but if you bust it out somewhere public it sounds soo good and gives an adrenaline rush. If youre feeling brave try rapping over it too. Oddly enough you can do this with a lot of 311 songs. If you watched the 311 day '05 question and answer thing on www.311.com, theres a link with Chad giving a tour of the Hive and he plays Gap with mallets on a marimba (the same marimba you hear in the end of Dreamland), so its kind of the same idea. |

| Queens of the Stone Age – Little Sister Lyrics

yeah, that's what i was tryin to say before. And about the tempo block thing, which he uses in the song, it has a much different sound then a cowbell which sounds metallic, and a woodblock which is more high pitched and solid-sounding. I only say this because my band does a cover of this song and I use the same tempo block that he uses in the song and it sounds soooo good, almost hypnotic...so, that's my advice to any of my fellow drummers out there |

It's not a cowbell, wood block, or wooden cowbell (no such thing anyway)...it's called a tempo block. Awesome song, I think he's trying to turn a girl around from a dangerous life she's living, and he loves her so much that he treats her like his "little sister" |

another cool thing about this song is that the next song that they put out would have to be the first track on the next album after grassroots since 123 is the last song on grassroots...and what was the next song they put out?...Down, which helped that album go triple platinum...im not saying that triple platinum is 311's deepest dream, but you definitely dream about that day that you make it big. Yeah, I agree, it is def. one of the better but underappreciated songs off of Transistor. It puts my mind at ease, especially near the end of the song when it goes from hard to flowing music with that airy guitar again and some crucial drum fills. Yeah, i have the same problem. I find SA's lyrics to be pretty crucial but hard to understand, and Nick's lyrics more digestible. Either way, this song is just tight....and I think that if 311 put out a CD of just their b-sides, it would sell twice as much as the Blue one. |
