Regardless of what it may or may not be about...I identify with this song because as a young women I think of myself as "Damamged" because I have had tainted love. I've been deeply hurt and that has in a sense damaged me and changed my trust in love. It's made me learn about longing for the person who hurt me and about hating myself for letting the love go sour. I think we can all relate in a sense and this was a PERFECT song for the BDP soundtrack. |

I always thought it was quite a haunting song. To me it represents a suicide......it reads like a suicide note.....maybe that's reading TOO deep into it, or maybe I'm suicidal......just how I interpreted it. |

This song is about being completely taken by something that at once felt so beautiful. It's about an addiction and I don't believe drugs are the only addiction covered in this song. It IS an extremely powerful song and longing for perfection is what we naturally all strive for......ironic how the sweetest perfection really isn't sweet or perfect at all! |

This song IS romance. It is love and lust wrapped up in one and Martin was so vulnerable and sincere when writing this one. He is a lyrical genius and with "Somebody" he's created the fantasy of perfection. We can all relate to longing so completely for somebody. #1 DM love song in my book........as far as the cover cd For the Masses.....Veruca Salt didn't do it justice......none of the artists even came close to captruing the true DM essence. |
