| Modest Mouse – You're the Good Things Lyrics

I think it's pretty simple. It's cathartic for him to think about the good things because in the end, when it's out of his system, it helps him to forget about her and move on (digging the memory's grave). I do the same shit. Lament and wallow in depression but the more I put myself through it, the faster it subsides. |

I'm not sure what the lyrics are alluding to aside from the obvious... bella donna is a type of berry that causes wild hallucinations and was used as a poison back in the day. It's usually consumed in a tea, as in "a tea so delicately laced." |

One of the things I appreciate about these bands is their unabashed drug use. They make no bones about it, which is exactly how it should be. I don't have to answer to anyone, nor does any other pothead.
Songs like this afford a safe mental haven for those of us expanding our minds. It's a graceful, profoundly soothing song on any substance. And you're RIGHT THERE WITH THEM.
That being said, I'm pretty sure the song can be taken any way people want, but the simplest answer is that it's about space travel, and that's probably what it is. Black Sabbath's lyrics usually aren't overly subtle. |

I love this song. I smuggled a radio from a friend when I was in USMC boot camp. At the time I thought I had lost my fiancee for good, and I heard this song. It brought a few tears to my eye. Since then, things worked out, but this song still holds a special place in my heart. |

What I believe this is about is simply that those who are different are persecuted for it, so building a wall or a facade around yourself keeps you safe from the "cruel world." I think he used WWII as an example of this and that's all. Just my 2 cents. |

Just to further clarify the church thing, I also see it as sort of spitting on the religion to commit child abuse. Like spitting in the face of the church-goers... That kind of thing. |

I love this song. Hell, I love the entire CD. It's a masterpiece of angst and emotion. A band has never touched me like this one has. |

And here I thought I was the only dork who liked this song. It's silly as hell, but catchy. I like. |

I love this song. This band is so great at sounding horribly depressed, and yet still manages to rock my socks off. Always good to listen to when you're sad. |

I like it for it's "fun" factor. Not every song has to be deep. I like the hard 80's sound, right down to the cheesy synthesizers. It's a nice change from the angst rock that has taken over our musical culture as of late. I don't care if anyone else likes it. I do, and that's enough for me. |

I always thought it was just about finding a girl who doesn't have a reason not to go out with him... But that's just me, and I'm probably wrong. |

I can't believe you guys haven't figured out the meaning of this song... Maybe I understand it because I'm in the situation as I speak. It's about how he wants to tell this girl how he feels, but he doesn't know if she feels the same way. He's being too slow about telling her and she's going to leave before he finds out if she feels the same about him. This song means alot to me... |

Wow, this is a really great song... I'm assuming it's about hallucinogens. He's talking about "breaking your day for pay and ration, hide hide hide" as in hiding from the daily pains by using drugs. Other things like "lost inside amazing colors," "it comes in a bottle," and "a hole in your brain" are obvious references to being high. I like the line "It's cold when you remove the nails," referring to withdrawal. Great song, very good. |

This is a great song... It's my personal favorite off Quarashi's CD. They are the masters of matching their lyrics with the flow of the beat, and I think this song really showcases that ability. |
