the lines in question refer to anti-depressants. "The amount of pills I'm taking, counteracts the booze I'm drinking..." refers to the pills being anti-depressants, and the booze being a depressant.

It's not about Gerard. The song is written about Mikey, Gerard's brother, and MCR's bassist. It is written from both points of view, like the line "you can't touch my brother" is from G's view and "We're not working out" and so on from mikey's. It's basically about a girl who was a total bitch to him, and it really affected him. |

This song is about September 11th. gerard saw it happen, he was meeting in newyork with comedy central for his cartoons. Witnessing the event changed his life and this was the first song the band wrote. |

It's about anti-depressants and suicide. basicly, it's an anti-suicide song. They band wrote this song quickly and Gerard added the dark lyrics to make it fit in with the rest of the album. Amazing song.
