Hey Mercedes – Eleven To Your Seven Lyrics 21 years ago
The song to me is about Chris Broach, the member of Braid that is not in Hey Mercedes. It was three months after Braid broke up that Hey Mercedes got together and Nanna said that the time inbetween was a really rough time for him ("the last three months in mentral traction"). I think the break downs on the train refer to fights that the guys got into on the road, leading to the break up of Braid. I think the parts about him singing offkey and being happy also have to do with Broach, but Nanna is saying he's doing just fine in Hey Mercedes.

Love this song; it might be my favorite HM song.

Braid – The Chandelier Swing Lyrics 21 years ago
This song is amazing, I can't believe there aren't more replies on it. I figured it would be a favorite...

The song is quite obviously the story of a relationship. It starts with them getting together and dreaming of "what they could be." Then they get together and believe that they have "met their match." Of course, as in any good emo song, the relationship begins to crumble and it's "not what it should be." The song concludes that one person in the relationship wasn't mature enough for it ("it's not like you had before")

The significance of the chandelier is that when it swings closer to them that they are in the light and in love. When it is away they have no light and are not in love anymore.

This song is lyrically a masterpiece and musically divine!

Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Maps Lyrics 21 years ago
It's pretty easy to see that the song is about a lover who is going away for some time. She is saying that she loves him more than anyone that he will meet out that, and more than the maps he is using to guide his journey. When she says "my kind's your kind" she's implying that this is a true love that will survive the distance.
