You should be a bit more open minded, and be a little less 'hardcore', Dashboard heads. If you were a real, true fan, you would give Chris credit for going out on a limb and trying something new. What makes bands/artists truly great (Incubus, Radiohead, A.F.I., The Beatles, and Weezer to name a few) is the ability to change, experiment, and redefine themselves. I, for one, don't want to purchase an Essential Chris Carrabba album 10 or 20 years from now with 25 songs that all sounds instrumentally parallel. Chris is a far greater musician and lyricist to do something of that nature. So, FOR THE LOVE OF PETE, give the guy a break and listen to the song again. You might realize that it is a good song regardless of its diverse (for Dashboard) instrumental. Besides, I believe this song was a transitional piece for Chris in between Further Seems Forever and the official formation of Dashboard Confessional. |

I completely agree with you! Although I love just about anything Alk3 does, this song is of very poor quality for them. |

In this month's issue of Spin, Thom denies any insinuation to US politics in Hail to the Thief. Thom says he heard the expression, Hail to the Thief, in reference to a 1898 election. Although, he might just be saying that in order to protect the band and their families (Because US nationalism is at an incredible all-time high because of al-Qaeda, bin Laden, and Hussein). |
